Guest guest
I found the following being mentioned about Kashmir Shaivism by an article by Prof. R.C.Dwivedi. He mentions that Somananda, Utpala, and Abhinavgupta are considered the trinity of Shiva Monism, make numerous references to Vedas, Upanishads, Gita and the vedanta. He also mentions that Bhagavagita is classes as an agama and is continously commneted upon by Shaiva acharyas like Vasugupta, Ramakantha, and Abhinava. Bhagavdgita is said to be extensively quoted by Abhinavagupta in his commentary on the IshvaraPratyabhijna Karika. Also mention is made of the quoting of upanishadic sentences in support of the basic doctrines of (Kashmir Shaivism) Somananda who systematised the Kashmir Shaiva school. That a commentary of Abhinavagupta exits on the Bhagavadgita is well known. Bhagavadgita is commented upon and viewed as aithoritative text by almost all schools of hinduism. When Kashmira Shaivam elevates BhG to the level of an agama, and its teachers and proponents rely on vedic authority to show that it is in accordance with veda, how is it possible for anyone to say it is close to Christianity and Islam? Bhagavadgita talks about varna dharma. It is looked upon as a smriti work by some vedantic traditions. I fail to see any reason when somebody says that Kashmir Shaivam is different from hinduism. That Kashmir Shaivam is close to christianity and Islam(it may in a few places ,like all religions having something common) than to hinduism is the most funny and worst statement I have ever come across. Probably a Russian institute's conspiracy with ulterior motives. Who knows?Or probably with an intention to convert all Indians to christianity.(See references to Arjuna's posts in Russian forums on this- at the end of my posting).Indians will figure out what is good for them. You are no prophet to preach Indians what to do. ****************************************************************** Lalita Sahasranama which I need not mention that it is one of the most important texts for SriVidya upasakas has the following names in it. 289 - Varnashrama Vidhayini She who establishes the castes and orders. Smritis are the texts which talk about various castes and orders. 539-Sruti Meaning Vedas 540-Smriti, She who is Smriti, i.e texts which describe various castes and rules, regulations relating to them in texts like Manu Smriti etc. according to Bhaskararaya. So those who think Lalita Shasranama is unreliable or invented by brahmanas can ignore the above names(or maybe ignore LS itself), and those who think of it a scripture, recognise the smritis as her form. ********************************************************** English translation for LS-Bhaskararaya commentray above from R.A Sastry's translation. Notes on Kashmir Shaivam is from an article by Prof R.C Dwivedi, is from a book called Unmilanam.(Hindi,Sanskrit,English) English version of Bhaskararaya's translation in post /message/9436 is also from R.A.Sastry's translation.
