Guest guest
My question appears in the last paragraph, so if this is too wordy to wade through, please go there first. So much is claimed to be different between the East and the West in the ways we look at the world, the self, God, etc. I often refer to a book called A Dictionary of Dream Symbols by Eric Ackroyd when I contemplate dreams and visions and daily life experiences I have, and I refer to the regular dictionary and pay attention to the etymology of words when contemplating the symbols in dreams and visions and life, too. One of the yoga sutra mentions the information we receive through our dreams. My acupunturist, a man who identifies as American but whose family originated in Asia, told me he thinks East and West dream imagery and the meanings we assign to such imagery would be very different. Are there books written by Hindus about dream interpretation? I am interested to know if Indian thinkers and scholars share in ideas such as the "collective unconscious," and/or what ideas Indians have about dream symbology. I look forward to responses to this.
