Guest guest
[From message 9570]"Being the householder is the most difficult thing. It is like you being tied down. [Eric Otto ]: "This way of being or seeing is not something that many people would consciously go after, you are correct. It make for a life that is probably more complicated and leaves people around you confused about decisions that one makes that seem to make no sense at all except from the point of view that one is trying to be conscious, awake and aware. It is also a problem when people who like to think in conventional ways about life, the universe and everything might have to look at something differently. At times, it is down right painful at times" [sun Electric ]: So much of what constitutes freedom is learning to shift ones sense of self and identity "upwards" and "away from" narrow and false self conception and limitations until gradually one comes to know oneself as the whole, the Divine Radiance that underlies & permeates all things (Sri Devi). That is a long way off for most of us. Until then we all do the best we can with what we have and enjoy everything along the way ; ) [s.Anand Nisrag ]: Freedom, Moksha, is found only within the human will [Eric Otto ] : As much as I can see the black and white of what she is saying, life seems a bit more complicated than that. For example, a friend of mine was complaining about his dead end job and having to support three children. He is "free" to quit his job and there are no obligations ultimately to the children. He could get on a boat and go to Brazil. There is a life in progress with him, however, that involve his children (that he loves) and a dream of a better future for them. His life is a tight squeeze now. There aren't a lot of options there. When we are young we have tons of options but as we get older those options tend to lessen. This isn't good or bad as far as I can see. There is a freedom of acceptance of the reality of this life but understanding about "our ultimate essence" understands that this exists but it isn't who we are." You are right Eric, it isn't who we are. And yet again, it is this commitment that brings us down to the realities of life. Sorry for taking such a long time for me to respond. I have always wanted to say something but somehow got distracted. Had an interesting short conversation with my good friend earlier with regards to this message of yours. Let us share it: "someone has to keep us in line. Our family brings balance to it somehow all these are the factors that keep us reminded of our obligations. We made a conscious decision and we are to learn to honor that commitment and not running away. This is what I learn. The voices of DEVI come from our family. I think it is also a lesson in detachment. You maintain committed and yet detach. We have to detach ourselves from our monastic tendencies. Rather than detaching ourselves from the world. Remind me of the story of Parvati and Shiva. It is being said that if not for Parvati, Shiva will still be in the mountain , into his ascetism all the time and not accessible to his devotees. Parvati domesticate him and made him a householder. And now She's doing the same thing to us" We are like heroes you see. Wanting to go out there and save the world. Wanting to do good to humankind, but " to understand the whole world and how it functions you cannot see it from what they are. To understand them you have to bring them to a level that everybody can understand. In a household you face with a lot of daily routine and problems, if you cannot learn to understand and accept this, how can you learn to understand the whole world and how it works? If you cannot show compassion to your own family how can you show compassion to others" This experience teaches us to be accommodating. To understand the whole concept of patience and tolerance. And yet to remain focus on our devotion to our goal or to the divine despite all the distraction of the daily living.
Guest guest
Namaste Noraji, You message reminds me of the mango tree. Some mango get matured and drop to the ground and whilst others needs to stay on the tree. The one that drops because it has eaten enough from the tree so it goes on to be eaten by humans,to be of service ...........but those still on tree are not because the tree needs them but because it needs the tree The householder is like the unripe mango needs to be on the tree. Sannyasa is not escapism neither is householdership a chain on your legs . Both has it's a purpose for the evolvement of the sadhaka . Everything has it right place ! Paramasivan kalatil irenthe Pabe sonnathe Garuda saukyama......................... Jai Maa!! "N. Guest guest
Pranam, Kannaji. *Paramasivan kalatil irenthe Pabe sonnathe Garuda saukyama.........................* "Yaarum irukum idathil irunthal endrum ellam soukiyame" Garudan sonnathu.. I really enjoy these lyrics as these simple statements convey the highest meanings. Thank you for reminding me. With love Shankaree P.S. For those who do not know Tamil, it means, The snake asked, from Paramasivan's neck "Garuda, are you fine?" Garuda said, "If everyone is at their own places, everything is always fine." Let my every word be a prayer to Thee, Every movement of my hands a ritual gesture to Thee, Every step I take a circumambulation of Thy image, Every morsel I eat a rite of sacrifice to Thee, Every time I lay down a prostration at Thy feet; Every act of personal pleasure and all else that I do, Let it all be a form of worshiping Thee." >From Verse 27 of Shri Aadi Shankara's Saundaryalahari Messenger - Communicate instantly..."Ping" your friends today!
