It's just that some of us who are also struggling with it have not spoken up. I stored it away in the "do later in life" file of my brain, as I'm already feeling well-challenged by the sadhana I'm doing as is. But since the encouragement to start now, I went back to the beginning, got out a basic sanskrit pronounciation guide, and have been taking one tiny step at a time. I add a teeny piece after I feel like I've got the hang of where I'm at. But I feel like the KS is really a worthwhile practice to at least try. I remember how terrified I was to try the Lalita Sahasranama (1000 names of the Divine Mother) for the first time. I had to do the same thing, learn one name at a time, with the pronunciation guide, and now I don't stumble over it so clumsily. I think the same will be with KS. Blessings! I am confused about the relationship between the Khadgamala Stotram text as listed here: Sri Devi Khadga Mala Stotram http://www.chinmudra.com/SKS.htm And the audio that's available here: Khadgamala Stotram audio http://www.vi1.org/mantras/khdgmala/khdg.shtml I can follow along with the text for the first 8 lines, but then I get lost. What part of the chant does he move to next? It does not seem to be the part listed under "Dyanam". If this audio file does not follow the text listed above, is there another one I should download? I have converted it to JPG file, so that for those members who do not have the sanskrit font will not have any problem at all. We have divide them into 2 section namely : a. Sambuddhayata Khadgamala Mantrah b. Caturththyanta Khadgamala Mantrah Each begins with the mantrah, dhyanam, and the stotram itself. Click the link below to take a look. We are in the process of translation the whole text[ the meaning that is ] into english, so that our non sanskrit speaking members will benefits from it. However, you are correct that the correspondence is not word for word at certain points. You see, in the recorded version, Guruji has added additional prayers and invocations at a couple of points -- this is typical practice for an advanced Srividya upasak; but it does make the recording somewhat difficult for the newcomer to follow along with. If you just wait and listen closely, you'll note that he quickly comes back to the stotram itself. Here's what I'll do: Give me a few days and I'll transcribe the interpolated material, and post an exact transcript of the mp3. I am also planning to speak with Guruji later this week; if we do, I will ask whether he might record a word-for-word version of the basic stotram for use in conjunction with this series. Obviously, there are tremendous demands on Guruji's time; so I do not want to press this too hard. If it's too much trouble, a transliteration of the existing mp3 should be more than serviceable. No additional ritual or ceremony is required. The mp3 is simply meant to help you get into the right rhythm and pronunciation. In fact, the very simplicity of this practice is precisely the reason we chose it as a point of entry to serious Shakti Sadhana for interested members of this group. I fear, however, that I have obscured this simplicity with my presentation of the Khadgamala Devis Series. My intention was to "promote" (so to speak) the Khadgamala by posting images and discussions of the various Devis mentioned therein. These images and discussions are supplemental only. They are NOT necessary for successful use of the Stotram, which -- again -- involves only simple recitation. Now, as to the images you're seeing in the group each week: You see, there are 108 Devis located at the various intersections of the Sri Chakra. These deities have traditionally been visualized by devotees in various meditative practices. The deities have not, to my knowledge (and that is not much), been physically described in detail in any dhyanas (scriptural descriptions of deities). Guruji's innovation, then, was to bring to first physical depictions of these Devis to the world. This was intended to help aspiring devotees develop the focus necessary for traditional visualization: "You can sit in front of each of the sculptures in Devipuram to get training into such visualizations," Guruji explains. Since many of our members are unable, for whatever reason, to reach Devipuram, our hope in this series was in effect to bring Devipuram to our members. If you can't sit in front of the sculptures at Devipuram, but you can sit in front of them here. Over the next two years, all 108 of these Devis will be featured at Shakti Sadhana, one per week. We will archive the photos and any discussion at the homepage for the use and reference of future aspirants. Well, I thank you for speaking up. As I mentioned to prainbow, it's the only way we can hope to improve the presentation. We're only 6 weeks into a 108-week series, so I hope we'll be forgiven if we're still struggling with the right way to present things. Please have a quick look at my replies to msbauju and prainbow (posts #9848 and 9849); that pretty much summarizes my game plan for now.
