Guest guest
This is a song I wrote, to make sacred space by invoking seven Hindu Goddesses in the directions of East, West, North, South, Above, Below, and Within. (After I wrote the song, I learned about the Saptamatrikas -- they don't correspond exactly, but I seemed to "half-remember" them... from a past life?) Here are the lyrics: Vani sings the way before me Gentle Kam'laa dances after At my left hand, Gauri's silence To my right hand, Shyamaa's laughter Taraa bright above to guide me Bhumi firm beneath my feet While Durgaa, many-armed and splendid Bids them at my Heart to meet Here they meet And they dance on lotus feet I am a child of many Mothers Seven Mothers I call mine They hold a fragrant lotus garland That is strung along my spine And from the Root, the Womb, and Navel >From the Heart, Throat, Brow, and Crown They shine like seven blazing Planets As they rain their blessings down From Root to Crown They will rain their blessings down Vag-Devi rides the Winds of morning Lakshmi rises from the Sea >From Mountain peaks and cleansing Fires Come Parvati and Kali And through the Mid-World I'll go safely 'Twixt the Stars and the solid Ground My Lady is a mighty Fortress, And no one can tear Her down! Her Grace is found Where they tread the Heart-space 'round (Sing: Jai Durgaa Maa!) That scans similarly? I came up with: Prasad dehi hridayam pradakshinam .... but I'm sure my Sanskrit is ungrammatical and inappropriate. -- Len/ Kalipadma ______________ The best thing to hit the Internet in years - Juno SpeedBand! Guest guest
Oh, yes indeed. And sung it for friends and at Pagan gatherings (and once at the Integral Yoga Institute). I wish I could play an instument to accompany myself. -- Len/ Kalipadma On Thu, 6 May 2004 12:22:44 +0100 (BST) =?iso-8859-1?q?shankaree=20ramatas?= <shankaree writes: > Pranam, Kalipadmaji.
