Guest guest
Having paid homage to Sarvakama, the last of the ten Siddhis, or Powers gained by sadhana, we now move inward to the second layer of the wall enclosing the Sri Chakra. As noted at the beginning of this series, the first of the nine enclosures of Sri Chakra consists of a protective wall, three layers thick. Each of the three layers is guarded by its own set of devis or yoginis, embodying progressively subtle aspects of Devi's infinite totality. This enclosure of three layers is called Trailokyamohana chakra and its devis are called Prakata Yoginis, or the manifest Yoginis – those who bewitch (or captivate, or delude) the three worlds. The term "three worlds," on the metaphysical level, refers to the gross, subtle, and transcendent worlds – the gross (physical, material, elemental), objective world of duality, within which our physical bodies move; the subtle world of the various goddesses and gods, which we access at various levels during the course of our sadhana over many lives; and the transcendent world in which all of these worlds and separations are resolved into the One, Indivisible Brahman, conceived as Lalita Tripurasundari. On the psychological level, "three worlds" denotes the states of waking, dreaming, and sleeping. The term "prakata" means that which is expressed or revealed. So the prakatayogini – the devis of the first enclosure of Sri Chakra – are the outward, visible manifestations of Devi in the three worlds; or as Guruji notes, "the yoginis who express Themselves openly, without inhibitions." Think of Sri Chakra for a moment as a fortress or a walled city. Standing outside, one sees only the blank, towering, protective walls – just as we, before undertaking sadhana, see only the visible surfaces of the world around us. Inside that wall is another wall, and inside that one, a third. Then there are two circles of lotuses, which must then be circumambulated – that is like walking inward, toward the city center. And only then do we enter the interlocking triangles of the Sri Yantra proper – that is the castle, or citadel, where the Queen holds court. The center of Sri Chakra is the sanctum sanctorum, the holy of holies; the Queen's inner chamber, where we finally arrive at the feet of Lalita Herself. SriChakra is a geometrical representation of the Cosmos – the Three Worlds, the body of Devi. The Khadgamala is, in essence, a map guiding us through the labyrinthine chambers of the Sri Chakra. The Sri Chakra can be visualized in two dimensions, in which case it is called Sri Yantra. It can be visualized in three dimensions, in which case it is called Sri Meru. And it can be visualized in your own body. As Guruji notes, "Your body is a temple. All parts of your body are made by Goddess and are divine. They are the seats of all powers, both manifest and latent. They are the real Sakti Peethas. ... Sri Chakra is located in all the female genitals at the clitoris." Is not the sadhak or sadhika who arrives at the santum sanctorum, then, verily Shiva Him- (or Her-) self? Aum Maatangyai Namahe

Love of the human body is love of the very temple of the divine. This simple knowledge could allay a lot of fear and anger if people could just get over their fear of vulnerability. Often those who are the most warring are also those most unable to just let go of their hangups, probably due to some sort of negative reinforcement. All sentient beings from single celled to universes live to engage in sexual union. If humans realized this and made peace with it then those who were power hungry would recognize their displaced sexual nature and maybe be able to prevent their warring nature from occuring. People should have sex school. I wonder how many dead would still be alive if someone had some real loving. People think the prurient interest is deviant, however love of form is appreciation of it. War and the urge to destroy beauty is the true prurient interest. In either case self inflation is the cause of evil, while self appreciation is the doorway to the divine. Guest guest
Couple of comments: All traditions hold that the human body is the best Srichakra. There are traditions which say that Srichakra is located in the dvadasanta i.e sahasrara(in the brain-both male and female). In another set of dhyanas, these same traditions give the status of svadishtana to genitals(the differenec in technique based on level). If everybody is a SriChakra, shouldnt we all be liberated by now? Statements where adhikara-bheda isnt stressed can bring only confusion and misunderstanding, as we have seen in the past in this very list. Proper thought (or a note) as to for whom the statement applies to, will remove such confusions. For people without prior sadhana these will be empty statements which on hearing doesnt make them feel any different. On the other hand, they might work the other way, i.e provide rationalisation for durachara (bad/misconduct). Ex statements like above: 1)All is Brahman and everyone is Brahman. 2)Brahman cant be realised by meditation or prayer. Then why do sadhana or care about Brahman? Ex: There was a certain member who asked the list whether his act of wearing a mala of eka-mukhi rudrakshas and then going to a bar and drinking(with those rudrakshas on) makes him a vira sadhaka.(an example of how statments like above will work the other way) Comments and input welcome, Rgds , "Devi Bhakta" <devi_bhakta> wrote: > As Guruji notes, "Your body is a temple. Hehe. I gave up drinking when I took Buddhist refuge a while ago. But the point still holds, until you cut through to who you are you just can't know who you are. On one side of the coin you might be very decadent, and on the other a veritable saint. Heads or tails. It's karma I guess. You can't really judge another, Vira. Guest guest
But does not all idols/yantras require empowerment or prana pratishta? is not sadhana that empowerment? I dunno.............. Guest guest
That is funny, and astute. What a great idea! I was thinking this past week that there is a misalignment in the body-mind that is causing the failure of communication between sexuality and love. For example, continual focus on the beauty of youth, the "youth industry," when so much of life and spiritual understanding begins after age 40 (certain American presidents excepted, of course). Then there is the flourishing porn industry, flourishing law enforcement / law-breaking industry, flourishing weapons manufacturing industry, flourishing war industry, flourishing political machine industry, etc. Yet we all know that the world has the resources to feed, clothe and house all its peoples. We have the resources to develop "clean" energy, and to afford everyone a meaningful place in societies worldwide. But this is not what we do with the majority of our energy and time on the planet. Instead, we stay compartmentalized in these various deadening industries. Compassion and love are then relegated to the domain of religion which tends to be anti-sex and promotes only partial humanity for men and women (e.g. the institution of marriage and its underlying imbalances), causing and further reinforcing destructive tendencies and perpetuating the misalignment which does not allow the connection between all the parts of us within our bodies and minds. Someone please, post some jokes or something! I'm bumming myself out! Is there tantric humor?? Amma told a funny joke when she was in LA last year. Here it is, in case I didn't post it then: A husband came into his home after work all out of breath. He said to his wife: "I just saved $2.00 by running home from work behind the bus instead of getting on it!" She said: "That wasn't very smart! You could have run home behind a taxi and saved $20!" Guest guest
The best "Tantric joke" that I have been seeing has been the dredging for information by a member posting the same message on all the Hindu religious groups. Later on we can expect a "Schowlerly" book on Tantra pieceing together what a lot of people said as the author's research or we can find him/her setting up himself/herself as a "guru". Guest guest
Hmm, yes, that's unfortunate. However, I was hoping for a "gut buster," something along the lines of "A sadhak walked into the skull and bones store the other day...." Truly, is there anything mentioned about laughter in Hindu spiritual teachings? BTW Amma will be visiting Los Angeles later this month, 6/22-26. Amma's Los Angeles area Sadhana's music group will be performing many chants during the program when Amma is here - including "Bolo Bolo" - thanks to a Shakti Sadhana member who found the lyrics for me online (msbauju). I especially like "Bolo Bolo" because the words say that Shiva plays a drum, and music, like laughter, heals. People should have sex school. I wonder how many dead would still be alive if someone had some real loving. People think the prurient interest is deviant, however love of form is appreciation of it. War and the urge to destroy beauty is the true prurient interest. Guest guest
Don't be fooled for a minute, Mary Ann. Kochu has one of the finest senses of humor I've ever had the pleasure of encountering. He'd hate for anyone to know that though, so don't tell. ;-) , sankara menon <kochu1tz> wrote: > I am too dry a person; not really humorous :'( what can I do ? i tried....................... > > Mary Ann <maryann@m...> wrote: > Hmm, yes, that's unfortunate.
