Guest guest
NEW DELHI, India (JUNE 10, 2004) - Venus came, kissed and conquered. And now get ready for the new kingdom — one where women will rule and men will counsel and consort. Delhi Times on what the Transit means for Her and Him... "As Venus goes into transit, women will become more aggressive and feminine. They'll taste ultimate power and success. The men will just have to watch and cope. And there's nothing they can do about it. Sonia Gandhi's powerful rise is all about Venus in transition. And Priyanka is all set to become a bigger force in India in the next few months. Internationally too, it's the year of the woman. Hillary Clinton will become more aggressive and powerful. And in the next few years, the US could see her as its first woman President. Undoubtedly, the year of Venus: powerful, aggressive women coming into the limelight. The Goddess of Venus has empowered her daughter. The men can just watch on the sidelines." -- Sunita Menon, astrologer "The transit is over. Venus has completed its date with the Sun and the earth is never going to the same again. At least, not until the next Venutian spectacle in 2012.Andas our astrologers tell us, the Mighty Aphrodite will lend might to the new women and change the gender equations. Metaphorically speaking, the woman will end up from Mars and man will arise from the mount of Venus: tender, soft, sensitive and in tune with his feminine half. Not surprising, since Indian mythology has always celebrated the human being as the "Ardh-nareshwar" — a harmonious blend of the Yin and Yang [shiva and Shakti] factors. Says Namita Vadehra, astrologer, "the year will henceforth belong to women. They will be powerful and in control of their lives. All in all, Venus' transit is going to reshape the man-woman relationship." And does this augur well for the world? We asked our movers and shakers. "I am all for more power to women," says Ritu Beri, fashion designer. "We recently saw Sonia Gandhi's win in the elections and her renunciation of power. I think this definitely has something to do with Venus, the goddess of love. Men will finally understand the power of women and respect them for what they have achieved." "Of course we will take over Mars," declares Meyhar Bhasin, model. "Mars, the God of War, has made man testosterone-driven while Venus, the goddess of love, has made women docile and home-bodies. But now its all changing and will change somemore. Women will be more aggressive, independent and become go-getters in every field," she feels. But there wouldn't be a similar planetary transfer on the part of men, according to her. "While women will now be from Mars, as well as Venus, men will struggle to make the transition." Most of the men we interviewed were also willing to accept the ascent of women, both in public and private spaces. Says Tikka Shatrujit Singh, "Over the last few years women have been getting more career-oriented and liberal. So the power equations have been changing. I hope women use this chance to reach the top; use all the Venutian love and sensitivity for their advancement." According to Rahul Nanda, CEO, Tops Security, "The New Age woman will symbolise both beauty and power. Perhaps that is why it won't be wrong to say that women will be from Mars and men from Venus. A good case in point? Sonia Gandhi. Women will be more dominating. No one will be able to take them for a joyride." His advice: "Try it once and you will be out of the game!"
