The alcohol is not consumed in large quantities and is used ritualistically. Some use Ganja, some don't. the general association is this: Shiva is cool, calm, peaceful, meditating on high mountains etc. Ganja is often referred to as Shiva Prasad Kali is fierce, fiery, aggresive etc. Kali is associated with alcohol which is thus referred to as Kali Prasad. Now, for ritual use, meditation etc. these substances may be used. Most people however cannot handle them on their own and turn towards frequent intoxication......it's easy to do if your mind isn't ready for it. It's like using sex for spiritual purposes, there are methods and techniques for that, but the average person will run wild with it and mess up their spiritual progress, so it's never recommended to beginners. Although I must also add many devotees frequently smoke Ganja just to get close to Shiva. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * http://artconspiracy.com/artists/swastik.htm http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/lionserpent
Guest guest
When I was fifteen, I was a punk rocker in Hollywood. I remember one night when Raymond San Pedro, Bob Bonehead and I all tripped on a few tabs of windowpane LSD. We laughed all night until our faces hurt, and Raymond drove us all to Redondo beach early in the morning. We ended up on the boardwalk at about 5am when the sun had just begun to rise. There was Beach Boys hour on the radio. And listening to the Beach Boys at sunrise on the beach was just so beautiful that I went up to the water line and threw my boots with the chains on them into the ocean as an offering to the Gods. I felt at that moment like a Divine Goddess was rising with the sun, and that I was making an offering to her and the beauty of the universe. This was the first time I intuited that a beautiful Goddess Creatrix was behind life. I wonder, if anywhere in tantra drugs are accepted as a gateway into the divine. And if not, then I wonder if drugs are really as sinful as many make them sound.
Guest guest
Namaste Rudrajoe, I don't have anything to add about drugs and tantra. I'll leave that to our experts, but I will say that your post was hilarious. I am laughing myself silly imagining you at sunrise with the beach boys going etc... ~se101 , "Detective_Mongo_Phd" <detective_mongo_phd@h...> wrote: > When I was fifteen, I was a punk rocker in Hollywood. Guest guest
Imagine me,a punk rocker wearing bondage pants, combat boots, dayglow sweater with Sid Viscious hair, listening to the Beach Boys at sunrise at the beach. That's more hilarious. You're right. What my appearance belied was the state of feeling of divine graceand extacy which I was under. sunelectric101 Friday, July 16, 2004 1:44 PM Re: Hallucinogens/Drugs Namaste Rudrajoe, I don't have anything to add about drugs and tantra. Guest guest
You know shiva mooli in shaiva tantra is marijuvana and other psychedelics. But then its not for all. Its better to keep away from psychedelics if u are doing sadhana. , "sunelectric101" <ouranian@l...> wrote: > Namaste Rudrajoe, > > I don't have anything to add about drugs and tantra. > I'll leave that to our experts, but I will say that your post was > hilarious. Guest guest
In Ayurveda, there are some herbal concoctions that help induce a trance state - the foremost being Vacha (acorus calamus), which is a fairly widely used psychelic, but it is also a brain tonic, giving the gift of speech (ie vaacha); it is an emetic, so be careful and it is also unsuited to someone of a pitta temperament (which I think you are). Other herbs - brahmi, gotu kola, shankapuspi, jyothismathi can also be beneficially used for meditation/mantra practice. -yogaman , "Detective_Mongo_Phd" <detective_mongo_phd@h...> wrote: > When I was fifteen, I was a punk rocker in Hollywood.
