Bhubaneswar, India (July 21, 2004): In a bizarre incident, an Orissa

youth beheaded his mother to "appease" a deity, police said

Wednesday.

The family of Jara Tirki, 22, of Patagaon village in Sundergarh

district had been upset over Tirki's keeping a fast for some days

and performing some rituals at home for goddess Tarini, police said.

His mother Janga, 45, suspecting him to be under the influence of

black magic, invited a witch doctor for his "treatment". The witch

doctor performed some rituals and left after tying a ribbon on

Jara's neck.

Jara was furious at this. On Monday night, when all the family

members were fast asleep, he brought out an axe and hacked his

mother to death. He offered the mother's head to the deity at home

and worshipped for a while, officials said.

He later buried the head. The family informed some villagers, who

locked Jara in his house and notified the police. Jara was arrested

following the complaint.

"We are investigating the matter to find out if there is any other

reason behind the murder," said a district police official.

I am sorry to say that many youngsters with a lot of energy and unbounded

ambition and without proper guidence get into Sadhana mode and the result is

temporary or permenant mental instability.

In such state they commit crimes believing it will help them along. Thed only

place they reach is the prison.

This happens mostly because of unfounded assertions and misunderstanding of

scriptures.

There have also been instances of "religion" being used as an excuse to further

personal agenda.

As we all know the early colonists used Christianity to further imperialistic

designs; this is an equally condemnable act.

I understand Kochu but who is to guide these youths who have access

to all this knowledge and yet no proper guidance in the form of a

Guru due to lack of Samskaara. I am sad indeed and don't know the

solution except try my best to help someone when they cross my path.

I would say guidance begins at home.I say its the responsibility

of the parents how they are bringing up their children.

If home life is no good then a child will get messed up.

Just an opinion.

Perhaps its arrogance and pride. I have encountered Youngsters who

seems to think they are special. They are the "Adi Shankara" and

these knowledge they have is specially inherited and DEVI appeared

before them telling them that this is what they should do.How ca we

dispute these claims? How can we draw the line between illusions and

reality. Try to explain to these? Can anyone?

I have come across such children and the way I try is to listen. They

talk and talk till their own stories sound unreal to them. They stop

and become 'normal'. There are genuine people but they remain silent.

Yea !!!!!!!!! hahaaaa. You always make me laugh Detective Mango Phd.

When we sentence a youngster to 20 spanking for vandalism, we are

being said to be inhumane and cruel. You can be charge for child

abuse now for spanking a child, dont you know that ! LOLLLLL

To make a tree grow straight sometimes it must be tied tight to a pole. This

also protects it from the elements.
