Guest guest
Receive this from the homepage mail : Hello, I have been doing a lot of research on Shaktism, in means to see if I can incorporate its principles in my life. However, a several sites, both professional and ameteur in nature, insist that Shaktism involves the belief that feminine powers are superior to masculine powers. I do understand that Goddess worship is incorporated (without denying the masculine powers), but is it true that the belief system is matriarchial in nature? Forgive my ignorance, I am not assuming that is the case; hence I ask to clarify this conception (or misconception). Also, if one is interested in understanding Shaktism more, which scriptures are essential...if any at all? I almost assume the Vedas, but due to the multi-faceted quality of Hinduism, the essential scriptures vary from sect to sect. Thank you for your time. Guest guest
My two pence. One of the basic tenets we follow in Hinuism is to inclcate the belief that what one believes is superior to the rest and to interlink. For example shaktas believe that shakti is the ultimate; the Shaivas believe shiva is; vaishnavas believe vishnu is and so on. This is necessary at the early stages of sadhana to strengthen oneself. But as we go to higher realms we are told o the unity and all thats why whe i comes to Para in shaktism we are told that we can meditate on devi as a male, female or as attributeless. In Vedanta we are taught first of the atribtes of God and that God IS. Then as you go higher you are aske to doubt the exiztence of God and then ultimatly yo are taght You are God.(Aham Brahmasmi) "N.
