Guest guest
I have been reading this book by Deepak Chopra and I find it worth telling people about. In it, Dr. Chopra discusses being beyond karma, good and bad. He discusses stages of spiritual development and levels of awareness that occur in human evolution. My sense of Dr. Chopra from this, and other works of his, is that he does not buy into "the normalization of our worst instincts," which is how he describes what the field of psychology did with Sigmund Freud's work. In How to Know God, Chopra explores Abraham Maslow's work, which uses as its basis the starting place of it not being normal to be violent or evil in any way. If our basic needs aren't met, we get caught in patterns of attempting to meet them that can be ultimately self-defeating. The phrase: "Be careful what you wish for, you just may get it" is mentioned as a sign of lack of faith in the Divine. The book is full of interesting anecdotes, as well as Chopra's usual tendency to make lists of qualities. All in all, the book is a treasure and a treat!
