Guest guest
That is the most absurd thing I have ever heard in my life. Traditionally most goddess cults have incorporated male followers, or even have males within their respective priesthoods. Do you think that the traditional Roman Diana had no male followers? You think that there is not a tradition of male tantrik sadhaks or that Kali's most famous and beloved saints like Ramakrishna, Bhamakhepa, or Ramprasad were not themselves males????? What a joke. Your beliefs are yours only and fit nowhere in the greater scheme of truth. a message dated 9/27/2004 4:09:01 PM Eastern Daylight Time, eternalwytch1 writes: I cannot see sense in having male energy involved in any way with a Goddess AKA female belief system... Rather like adding asafoetida to ones tea, ruins the brew and makes one ill. An all female coven bringing male energy in, either by inviting them into the actual coven or bringing it in by means of mating with one is defeating the whole reason for an all female anything... To escape male influences and reclaim the power of women.

I would not say that to anyone, no matter how their beliefs did not speak to me, or seemed to me to be a waste. One thing I do know, Truth is greater than my personal perception and experience; that's a Blessing. Deity has a sense of humor, and I personally find it helpful to cultivate one myself. I mean no offense to you; you must be in serious distress or feeling backed into some corner I could not perceive to attack another so... And of course, what really bothers you isn't in eternalwytch1 or anyone else at all, it is more personal to you. > That is the most absurd thing I have ever heard in my life. How amazingly rude and judgemental of you. Do you know yet what is bothering you?

If somebody said they had something against me because I am of european descent, male, brown hair, grren eyes, or anything else that I had no control over and simply relating to the state of my birth then they incur my contempt and disrespect. I look at what somebody has done with their life, not their physical state. Your argument was rather vague too and I mean no offense by that, but please don't take my words out of context in relation to the nonsense she spouted. seed_crystal also writes: >>> How amazingly rude and judgemental of you. <<< The original post at issue stated: "I cannot see sense in having male energy involved in any way with a Goddess AKA female belief system... Rather like adding asafoetida to ones tea, ruins the brew and makes one ill....." My opinion is just this: How could one possibly justify that? As a male Shakta I took offense to it and got a little edgy because within the context of Hinduism it just doesn't hold water. It sounds like bigoted opinion and nothing more. Research any culture in the world and you won't find verification for this statement. Modern examples which I can readily call your attention to could be Kali worship, reverence for mother Mary by catholics, or Tara devotees in Buddhism among others. It was a broad and sexist statement. All apples and peaches aside ;-) I'm reading the Shiva Purana right now and in it are scenes of male gods and humans worshipping the divine mother and thats an ancient text. These are not new ideas.
