Guest guest
Narayani is the consort of narayana, narayana representing where nara returns (nara is the bounded soul) after death OR narayana being the controller of Naras. Its my understanding that Narayana pervades all the 14 worlds, 7 under and 7 upper. Dont ask me what exactly this means, because i am a nara now. , "manoj_menon" <ammasmon@s...> wrote: > > There is also the Narayani Stuti in the Devi Mahatmyam (Sarva mangala maangalye .... naraayani namostute) that refers to Narayani, where I could not clearly identify whether it was a salute to Durga Ma or was it Lakshmi Ma (because Narayana is Vishnu). > > Anyway, all are one with many aspects, some fascinating to me, some not evoking so strong a response. > > Jai Ma! > > , sankara menon <kochu1tz> > wrote: > > look at Mahaalakshmi dhyana in Devi mahathmyam: > > Aksha sruk parashum.................. > > There is only one place where there is an idol corresponding to > this dhyana that i have come accross. Guest guest
"Narayani" is the feminine form of Narayana. It can mean either "the wife of Vishnu" (who is Ma Lakshmi), or "the sister of Vishnu" (who is Ma Durga). In the first chapter of the Devi Mahatmyam, Lord Brahma invokes the Goddess as Yoga-Nidra (the sleep of Union) to arise from Vishnu. This form of Narayani emerges from Vishnu's body as a blue-black complexioned Goddess with ten arms, ten heads, and ten arms. (Earlier she is called Mahakali.) As a result, the sleeping Vishnu awakens to do battle with the Asuras Madhu and Kaitaba. But all the aspects of the Goddess morph into each other. -- Len/ Kalipadma On Wed, 06 Oct 2004 19:31:25 -0000 "manoj_menon" <ammasmon writes: > > > There is also the Narayani Stuti in the Devi Mahatmyam (Sarva > mangala maangalye .... naraayani namostute) that refers to Narayani, > where I could not clearly identify whether it was a salute to Durga > Ma or was it Lakshmi Ma (because Narayana is Vishnu). > > Anyway, all are one with many aspects, some fascinating to me, some > not evoking so strong a response. > > Jai Ma! > > , sankara menon <kochu1tz> > > wrote: > > look at Mahaalakshmi dhyana in Devi mahathmyam: > > Aksha sruk parashum.................. > > There is only one place where there is an idol corresponding to > this dhyana that i have come accross. Guest vaishnavi
dear if we are taking the name of narayani as narayana's sister then we have to take shiva as shivji's sister. is it? sorry but read durga saptshati first then this problem will solve automatically. in this sage has written that durga's first name was narayani and after that he create two another powers of mahavidya saraswati and maha kalika. in chapter 2nd mahishasur was killed by narayani so all goddess are powers of supreme power narayani and after the end of shumbh and nishumbh all gods prays to durga as narayani and there is written a main stotra (group of mantras) of 16 paragraph known as narayani stotram (11th chapter). Guest Radha
Narayani is the feminine aspect of Narayana, or sister. She is Goddess Durga.
