If you are here to educate, then do so.

I was responding to a post where numbers were cited and deities named.

No "corresponding feminine deities" were mentioned, which gives the

impression they are somehow Less important to the worshippers of that male deity

than

is the male deity himself, otherwise, why would it have been stated that way?

It seems even in India, the Goddess lives in the Shadow of the God.

Let me make one thing clear

where krishna is worshipped Radha too is; where shiva- uma too. And a

vaishnavite will go to shiva Devi temple and vice versa. It is those who have no

firsthand experience that one goes to talk the nonsense of sects.

Cathy --

It is a mistake to assume that Goddess worshippers necessarily treat

their women with respect or honor. The ancient Greeks worshipped many

Goddesses -- it was not, on the whole, a woman-respecting culture.

I gather that South India (especially Kerala) is matrilineal, and women

there have more rights and respect. My Guru, Ammachi, comes from Kerala.
