A question, personal in nature...

I have a question for you guys, anyone feel free to respond on or offlist,

it's a bit personal however.

My husband and I have been married for almost 6 years now and have been

trying to conceive almost all of that time. We've been through many hurdles

including a basketball sized cyst and one of my ovaries being removed. After

that situation I went to see a reproductive endocrinologist, the best in my

area by far. Monday he told me that there was nothing else he could do for

me. All our tests have been normal, there's no known reason why we should

have any problems. Yet every month my cycle shows up again. I conceived

once, almost 2 years ago and miscarried at 4 weeks.

I've now decided that I'm giving up on modern medicine and an considering

various holistic and spiritual means for acheiving our goal. I am 28 now,

and feel very strongly about NOT doing invitro or any other unatural means.

I've considered adoption, and that will be our path in a couple of years if

I can't sustain a pregnancy. However I've had dreams of my future daughter

and she has my husbands eyes. I'd really like to hear any advice that you

bunch of insightful people have for my situation. If there are any mantras

or specific practices or dietary recommendations, please send them to me,

offlist, if you prefer.

With Navariti approaching, I am setting up an altar tonight with Saraswati,

Lakshmi and Durga images, however Lakshmi seems the most appropriate to ask

she's the one of the three I've worked with the least.

So far I've cut all sugar out of my diet, am eating mostly veggies and lean

meat, I've been doing yoga, and taking prenatal vitamins. I've lost 30 lbs

this year and feel better than I ever have before.

Thank you in advance and I look forward to your replies.

Namaste,

Allison

Don't do this without consulting your doctor. Vegetarians have special

dietary concerns due to the lack of animal protein, which is important for the

development of brain and nervous system tissue. And please don't forget that no

matter what you eat, you're taking a life, be it plant or animal.

You apparently live in US, I recommend Dr Andrew Weil:

http://www.drweil.com/u/Home/

He answers question.

In Europe there is a long tradition of the Black Madonna who are

implored in the various problems of fertility.

In US there is a black madonna in New York in Cathedral of St John the

Divine, I found on internet:

"In chapel of the Synod of the Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church,

OL of Kursk, found in 1295 at the foot of an old oak-tree near Rilsk,

later placed in Kursk Cathedral, escaped destruction several times,

found in Munich 1945 and taken to NY."

and

"Spain has more than fifty images of the Black Madonna. Nineteen have

been documented in Germany. Italy has more than thirty Black Madonnas.

France has more than three-hundred. "

Still today people go on pilgrimage to these Black Madonnas.

There is a lot of pages about the Black Madonna, you can just google and

you will find.

No, I am not referring to B12, but animal protein. I was very specific

in my post. Vegetarians (true vegetarians, not fake ones who eat chicken and

fish) need to be aware of the potential in a very new fetus of developmental

problems brought on by lack of animal protein, and with their doctor plan to

make up for that lack. Vegetarians can and do have healthy babies, but the

mother-to-be needs to be much more careful than a meat-eater to make sure she is

getting all the elements that are essential for fetal development.

Animal protein was responsible for the surge in brain size in early

humans, and recent studies have found that inadequate amounts of it or a good

substitute can retard or deform growth and development of fetal brain tissue.

This

is something that really needs to be discussed with a doctor, not on a

mailing list.

I'm afraid you are being too subtle in your question; please elaborate

and I will be happy to answer. (However, you might try just reading my archived

posts to get my views on this - there are not very many and they are very

recent. I have gone on at length on this subject earlier and hope everyone is

not already bored with it.)

I think that is a problem only for vegans. And vegans can always now and

then check their B12 by bloodtests.

Would you use that argumentation when comparing humans and plants also?

But you are not a fetus, are you?

The above is a straw-man, raised only to be argumentative. In this

thread, we were talking about the nutrition intake of the mother supporting the

fetus. The developing fetus does not support itself, so of course what the

mother eat affects its development. If you want to get into an argument about

nonmothers being omnivorous, forget it. BTDT. You keep your beliefs, I'll keep

mine.
