Guest guest
Perhaps herein lies the confusion over left and right. Pingala goes to the right nostril, but from the left testicle: > Ida starts from the right testicle and Pingala from the left testicle > http://www.sivanandadlshq.org/download/kundalini.htm#_VPID_32 In a message dated 10/19/2004 4:14:07 PM Mountain Daylight Time, SophiasHeaven writes: > In a message dated 10/19/2004 12:07:08 PM Mountain Daylight Time, > swastik108 writes: > >> I thought ida was lunar and on the left and pingala was solar and on the >> right? > > > > >> This Yoga site explains that Ida is on the right side and Pingali is on >> the >> left, and also a little bit about Para-Sympathetic and Sympathetic: >> > > It mentions the sun and the moon in this excerpt below. > > >> Ida flows through the left nostril and Pingala through the right nostril. >> Ida is also called Chandra Nadi (moon) and Pingala as Surya Nadi (sun). Guest guest
Len, I have a color diagram of the veins in the body ( the physical ones ) on my desk and reference it from time to time. The external iliac vein is found one on each side, and is identified as running from the place of the right and left testicles in the male. However, a female has these veins as well. I can see on the diagram where these veins run from, and it is the same position that Sri Swami Sivananda says the Ida and Pingali run from. Whether there is a testicle there or not, it still the same location. One on each side, right and left. Maybe it would help your visualization if you obtain a color diagram of the veins in the body. I know that I personally find it useful. If the Ida starts with the right side, and crosses once at Muladhara(base) switching to the left side, she runs up along the left side of the spine, then meets again at the anahata (heart) switching to the right side, then meets again at the Ajna(at the top of the nose-- third eye) switching back to left. So she runs on the left side of the spine, but ends up at the right nostril. I"m assuming they switch, since Omprem has said they wind in a pattern similar to DNA strands. Guest guest
Excuse me: it is the INTERNAL iliac, not the external, I should have named below. The internal iliac veins begin on each side, by where the testicles would be in a man, left and right, and go up into the Vena Cava, to the Heart. The external iliac veins run on left and right, up from the legs and actually becomes the femoral vein, or main vein in the legs on each side. The book of human anatomy I read explained it this way also, that the internal iliac veins run from the testes in a man, and from the female reproductive organs in a woman, left and right, either side, roughly from the same place in each, so you can visualize it coming from your uterus in either side, or if it helps, visualize it through the ovaries, seems to me would be the closest analogy. So if you are a woman you could visualize the Ida and Pingala Nadis coming up out of your legs and entering the torso, crossing through the point at which if you are a woman, you have ovaries, if a man, testicles, and then all the rest is the same, crossing at the Muladhara chakra then up along the spine, crossing at the heart then up into the head and meeting again in the Ajna or third eye chakra... I have a color diagram of the veins in the body ( the physical ones ) on my desk and reference it from time to time. The internal iliac vein is found one on each side, and is identified as running from the place of the right and left testicles in the male or right and left ovaries in a woman. These are physical veins in the physical body that you can see pictures of on an anatomical chart of veins.. BOTH men AND women have these veins. I can see on the diagram where these veins run from, and it is the same position that Sri Swami Sivananda says the Ida and Pingali run from. Guest guest
Looking at the diagram of veins in the human body, the internal iliac Begins at the lower most end of the torso, one on each sid, just above the innermost part of the upper thigh, but still definitely located in the torso. It takes blood from the testes in a man, and from the uterus in a woman, one on each sid e, whether you are a man or a woman. Human anatomy 101 I can only assume the Ida and Pingala Nadis correspond to these two veins, the iliac vein: one on left one on right. The external iliac extends down into the legs, morphs into a number of other veins til it reaches the toes. The external iliac begins and ends at the base of the torso by the reproductive organs, in men and women alike. Guest guest
Cathie, how often do you confuse your nostrils with your testicles? This further means that 50 percent of all humans have no place for their Nadis to come from! -- Len/ Kalipadma On Tue, 19 Oct 2004 18:17:43 EDT SophiasHeaven writes: > > Perhaps herein lies the confusion over left and right. Guest guest
So what about those who DON'T have testicles? I would like to point out to the women of the group something that I myself wish I had realized earlier: That a very large percentage of the spiritual teaching available out there is by MEN, FOR MEN. I took up this stuff, got in the habit of sitting still and getting used to meditating that way, and THEN realized that I would have been better served had I learned an ACTIVE form of meditation, like dance, for instance! I am a woman, women are already receptive/passive/still in nature, and so should embrace activity to balance themselves. It is MEN who need to sit still and motionless to enhance their receptivity! Just like most of the western drugs out there are proving toxic to women because they were originally tested only on men, many methods of spiritual development are being pursued by women that are actively detrimental to them, because they are geared towards men's natures! This is a point that should always be borne in mind when taking up a practice. Women are NOT men, and need to have their own way of doing things. The idea is to achieve inner balance, not aggravate existing tendencies! Lilith M. --- SophiasHeaven wrote: > Perhaps herein lies the confusion over left and > right.
