Maybe for those who do it is appropriate. The Reiki Master is supposed to transfer only the Universal Energy into the Client, but then one is left to trust the skill of a Reiki Master one only knows by the diploma on his/her wall. I went to a Reiki Master and she did indeed transfer energy into my body. And then I got another blood clot. Each person has ideas about what they think is ideal and good and right and only the most conscious person is aware of and can detach from these strong feelings. So many people get degrees in Reiki nowadays. Some are very oriented towards earning large sums of money. I don't trust it. They have their own values. Maybe it is because of the position of Neptune in my natal chart, but I feel I pick up energy too easily, from others, and have taken my whole life till now, learning how to shield myself. People will try unconsciously to put their own through/consciousness energy onto other people: it's called Projection in psychology and it is in my experience a very powerful force. If a person is vulnerable and emotionally weak, or unconsciously open, the projection can TAKE and one might find oneself developing a poor image of oneself when constantly in the presence of somebody who continually projects a low opinion of you onto you from their own consciousness or unconscious emotional belief systems. ANYBODY CAN TRANSFER ENERGY THROUGH PROJECTION ONTO ANOTHER PERSON: HOPEFULLY, A GOOD TEACHER WILL BE SOMEBODY WHO HAS A GOOD SENSE OF THE KARMA OF THE STUDENT, AND WHO'S OWN EMOTIONAL AND KARMA LEANINGS ARE NOT INCOMPATIBLE WITH. AS SOMEBODY POINTED OUT: ONE GURU MAY GO UP AND BE ALONE IN THE MOUNTAIN, ANOTHER WILL TAKE STUDENTS, EVEN AMONG GURUS THERE IS NOT ONLY ONE PATH AND THERE IS ALSO PERSONAL KARMA. SO LONG AS THERE IS PERSONAL KARMA THERE IS THE POSSIBILITY OF ONE PERSON PROJECTING HIS/HER OWN EMOTIONAL VALUE SYSTEMS ONTO THE TOHER. I THINK IT WAS LILITH WHO SAID A WESTERNER SHOULD SEEK A TEACHER FROM THE WEST -- THIS IDEA OF THE PERSON'S TENDENCY TO UNCONSCIOUSLY PROJECT ( OR CONSCIOUSLY) THEIR OWN EMOTIONAL VALUE SYSTEMS ONTO ANOTHER. I very gently exhale the other person's identity energy back to them and inhale my identity energy back to me about 5 times. Sometimes it has to be repeated if thoughts of the person keep coming up after the healing session. Many Blessings and Much Joy to you! Most energy workers are not skilled enough in their craft or sattvic enough in their sadhana and state of spiritual evolution to avoid projecting their own warped pranas into you. I live a city of about 900,000 that is situated in a place with positive prana and its population enjoys a vibrant alternative culture with hundreds of energy workers. Even so, there are only two people that I would let do energy work on me and neither of them is a Reiki practitioner.
