Guest guest
Thanks for this stunning review of this book I have here, Lars. I've got to say, however, it irritates me to no end to hear people warning against a book because it is advanced as if solely by being an advanced book it is going to cause somebody harm. For one thing, what beginner is going to pick up a book like this and "just do it"? The section you point to would be too difficult and complicated to understand let alone to "just do it" so who is in danger? Secondly, you forgot to mentino that each chapter leading up to that gives extensive and valuable information, as well as individual excercises and meditations for each of the individual chakras, which are supposed to be mastered first. That gives a LOT for a person to study on before putting it all together in teh vidyas you point to on p. 279. At any rate, i HAVE an experienced teacher. Thanks for so highly recommending this book, and as for the warnings, I wish people would stop trying to scare everybody. It's like warning somebody who is about to learn how to ski, that they might end up as a very advanced skiier, try a jump that is way to hard, and break their neck, when in fact most are going to be just going along at their own speed, adn will never even TRY the more difficult meditations in such a book, not out of fear becasue somebody scared them, but because they are too complicated to understand if a person hasn't studied the prelimary exercises. My two cents. Guest guest
Hi Someone here mentioned Kundalini Tantra by Satyananda Saraswati. This is the best and most advanced book about Kundalini Yoga I have read. Satyananda writes on p279: "The following tantric kriyas provide what is possibly the most efficient method for systematically evolving man's consciousness that has ever been developed [...] These kriyas are rather advanced and too powerful for the average aspirant. [...] Also, it is advisable that he takes up these kriyas only under the guidance of a guru, who can see that the aspirant is fully prepared for them and that any obstacles which arise while the aspirant is practising do not cause any harm in the way of disease, mental imbalance or psychic dislocation." If someone here know of books about Tantra of the same calibre, please let me know I am very interested. Regards Lars
Guest guest
93 We know books that exceed all that was ever written by any "Swami * Sarasvati" . For example, "Tantraloka" of Sri Abhinavagupta. , Lars Hedström <lars@2...> wrote: > > If someone here know of books about Tantra of the same calibre, please let me know I am very interested. > > Regards > > Lars
Guest guest
But Georg Feuerstein writes in his "bible" The Yoga Tradition(2001) that: "One of the most significant Tantric works is the erudite Kashmiri adept Abhinava Gupta's monumental Tantra-Aloka (written Tantraloka), of which only an italian rendering is available thus far." So I take it you mean a book about Tantraloka and Abhinavagupta?
