Guest guest
93 I meant "Tantraloka" itself. Sanskrit original is available from the web, however without Jayaratha`s viveka. There is italian translation by Gnoli, 2 hindi translations (by Dr. Radheshyam Chaturvedi and another scholar, don`t remember the name) and hopefully soon will be published english version (as i know there are persons working on it). I saw xerox of english translation - some kind of short version of TA. Cannot provide details though. There is also "Introduction to Tantraloka" by a very good scholar, Dr. Navjivan Rastogi. , Lars Hedström <lars@2...> wrote: > But Georg Feuerstein writes in his "bible" The Yoga Tradition(2001) that: > > "One of the most significant Tantric works is the erudite Kashmiri adept > Abhinava Gupta's monumental Tantra-Aloka (written Tantraloka), of which > only an italian rendering is available thus far." > > So I take it you mean a book about Tantraloka and Abhinavagupta? > > Regards > > Lars > > > Arjuna Taradasa wrote: > > > > > 93 > > > > We know books that exceed all that was ever written by any "Swami * > > Sarasvati" . > > For example, "Tantraloka" of Sri Abhinavagupta. > > > > > > , Lars Hedström <lars@2...> > > wrote: > > > > > > If someone here know of books about Tantra of the same calibre, > > please let me know I am very interested. > > > > > > Regards > > > > > > Lars > > > > > > > > > > * Sponsor* > > > > click here > > <http://us.ard./SIG=1290itnc7/M=315388.5526708.6599542. 3001176/D=groups/S=1705075991:HM/EXP=1098868296/A=2372354/R=0/ SIG=12id813k2/*https://www.orchardbank.com/hcs/hcsapplication? pf=PLApply&media=EMYHNL40F21004SS> > > > > > > > > ------ > > * Links* > > > > * > > / > > > > * > > > > <? subject=Un> > > > > * Terms of > > Service <>. > > > > > > > >

Guest guest
Feuerstein writes aslo: "Abhinava Gupta (which appears to be his spiritual rather than his birth name) was born in the mid-tenth century C.E. He created a spate of writings on the Trika school, of which more than forty are known by name. Besides the Tantra-Âloka, the most notable are the Tantra-Sâra and the Parâ-Trimshikâ-Vivarana. He was renowned not only for his erudition, but also for his spiritual accomplishments and miraculous powers. He attained Self-realization through the grace of his teacher Shambhu Nâtha, who initiated him into the secrets of teh Kaula school and its literature, but he received teachings in many different subjects and from many other teachers, and he established a thriving school, of which the late Swami Lakshmanjoo was the twentieth century's greatest representative." And according to Feuerstein was Swami Lakshmanjoo considered to have been a reincarnation of Abhinava Gupta. What is your comment to that? But i`m not too advanced in this. However U may have at least 29th ahnika of Tantraloka in english - it is translated and published recently by J.Dupuche under the name of "Abhinavagupta Kula Ritual". This ahnika is of critical importance, we may say it is the heart of TA. It describes kula-prakriya according to the teachings of Trika. A. I respect Swami Lakshman as a scholar and as a practicioner. Reincarnation is rather speculative matter; i believe Lakshman-ji himself never told that. IMHO Abhinava was too outstanding which i cannot say about Lakshman-ji although he was good person no doubt. I would like not to comment more `coz i simply know very little about Swami Lakshman and his works. A.
Guest guest
----- "The potency of a mantram depends upon the point of evolution of the one who employs it. Uttered by an ordinary man it serves to stimulate the good within his bodies,to protect him, and it will also prove of beneficent influence upon his environment.
