Namste to All ,

Recently I read this article which once again raise my concern . I wish to

highlight excerpts on this point ;

Devi Bhakta shared in an article on Durga Puja ;

Green activist Arun Kumar Singh, who runs Green Life here, said the idols made

nowadays contain large amounts of non bio-degradable material instead of clay

that was used earlier.

Environmentalist R.N. Trivedi said the paints and synthetic colours used for

making idols were non-biodegradable and hazardous. They contain toxic chemicals

like cadmium, carbonic compounds, strontium and phosphorous.

He said at least five kg of synthetic paints are used in making and decorating

one idol.

The factory processed sandal paste applied on the car (typical in Malaysia when

you buy new car ) in temple worship ate up the colour on the surface of the car

.. Some ladies prefer to wear stick on kumkum because the one the buy from shop

cause allergy . And some commercial incense today causes irratation to the

throat and headache which the doctor stated the incense have caused allergic

reaction.

Therefore, can anybody share the scriptural reference -if any or other othodox

way of preparing items below ;

a) Clay Idol for worship (any bengali friends might be able to share ,how about

southern

worshippers)

b) How to make kunkum

c) How to make incense

d) How to make sandal paste

I wonder any scriptures on this matter .............................

Jai Maa!!
