Guest guest
Dear Friends, Accept my regards. Really this is the best group in the World. Friends, when we say the word "Mother': Q)1 what images come to our mind? Q2) Do we find ourselves thinking of a personal relation, Or do we remember a specific act of motherliness that was bestowed on us? Guest guest
In reply to your question when I think of "Mother," I think first The Great Mother, The Goddess threefold, Maiden, Mother, and Crone. I think of her as the Mother of All, as well as my Mother, on a personal basis, and I also think of the planet earth as Mother, as we rest in Her lap, and take nurture from her plants and animals (though I am a lacto-ovo vegetarian, myself). Mothering, or feeling taken care of and nurtured is a little rarer for me. I have a very good friend who lives 8 hours away from me, but Jeannie has often been a good "Mother" to me, being there as a comfort and a common sense friend in any hour of need. Jeannie slept with me, holding me in her arms, the night after my fiance died of cancer. Jeannie has fed me, leant me money, listened to my problems, and been there for me many times. Other friends, such as my friend Kathy, who I have not seen often enough, have also been there with kind words and thoughtful gifts, showing care and concern for me as person. My cat Poozer, who is quite old and sick, has mothered me, by sitting on me and purring, during many a dark and lonely hour. I call him my fur-husband, but as one of Her creatures, he has manifested Her love towards me simply by being there for me. Have you felt then wind through your hair, the sun on your face, and not felt the love of the Mother, displayed through the majesty of nature? My own birth mother was a very disturbed and disturbing person and I don't connect her with mothering, though I know she loved me in her own way, too. Sometimes my own daughter mothers me! She has very healing energy, despite her own chronic illnesses, and being with her comforts me. Sometimes I have to mother myself, by just being mindful and thoughtful about what I need to keep on going with life, and by taking a moment to say something to encourage me to have faith in life and its processes, even when things are bad. I envision a place of women, living in freedom, with no fears, each fulfilling her own creative and spiritual path, with no restraints or admonitions from the patriarchy, with unbounding love and peace. On this planet, in our lifetimes......... Peace, blessings, Gwen of Crowhaven
Guest guest
Pranam. **Q)1 what images come to our mind?** These images come to my mind. One is where a woman or an animal nursing their offspring. Another is my mother and another is Devi Herself. **Q2) Do we find ourselves thinking of a personal relation, Or do we remember a specific act of motherliness that was bestowed on us?** As before, I see both my mom and Amba. Having someone hug you fully, with no reservations or even expectations, only with love also feels to me , motherly. With Love Shankaree Let my every word be a prayer to Thee, Every movement of my hands a ritual gesture to Thee, Every step I take a circumambulation of Thy image, Every morsel I eat a rite of sacrifice to Thee, Every time I lay down a prostration at Thy feet; Every act of personal pleasure and all else that I do, Let it all be a form of worshiping Thee." >From Verse 27 of Shri Aadi Shankara's Saundaryalahari ALL-NEW Messenger - all new features - even more fun!
