There should be no problem to describe origin and nature of q`lippoth - it is a part of Lurianic Kabbalah (which is orthodox one). Of course, there were several extreme theologians and mystics who went too far into the "Other Side" (Sithra Ahra); and orthodox rabbis wouldn`t discuss them.
