Guest guest
I am told this looks like Tamil or another dravidian language. Can someone here translate it? It's supposed to be a "kavacham" and protective to chant. n-Okka n-Okka n-odiyinil n-Okka kAkka kAkka kanakavEl kAkka n-Okka n-Okka n-odiyinil n-Okka thAkkath thAkka thadaiyaRath thAkka pArkkap pArkka pAvam podipada This is an invocatory exhortation to Murugan's Mandhira vEl to seek, attack, and destroy evil forces and sins. This is folowed by an enumeration and description of the various evil forces, energies, demons, spirits, enemies, evil people, black magic, various types of charms, and voodoo practices which need to be destroyed. ______________ Speed up your surfing with Juno SpeedBand. Guest guest
Len: This is the s/Kandakavacam or the Kumarastavam or Kandaranubhuti( very powerful famed prayers to murugan). Search on the web for these and I know there are english translations online. You may also want to check with someone at the NYGanesh temple(I remember your telling that you do visit this temple) preferably the Murugan priest... -yogaman , kalipadma@j... wrote: > > I am told this looks like Tamil or another dravidian language. Guest guest
Pranam. This is part of Skanda Shashti Kavacam. We usually sing this for the six days of the Shashti vrtam. It is a powerful armour(kavacam). When I was a kid, my mom taught me just this bit. So that, if I was in any trouble, I would remember and recite this. This year, the Skandha Shasthi vrtam will be starting on the 13th of November. It is a bit like Navaratri. Instead of Devi battling demons, it is Murugan warring with Soorapadman or Taraka. On the 6th day, it is Soora samharam and on the 7th day, we have the wedding of Lord Murugan and Deivanai or Devasena, the daughter of Indran. With Love Shankaree Let my every word be a prayer to Thee, Every movement of my hands a ritual gesture to Thee, Every step I take a circumambulation of Thy image, Every morsel I eat a rite of sacrifice to Thee, Every time I lay down a prostration at Thy feet; Every act of personal pleasure and all else that I do, Let it all be a form of worshiping Thee." >From Verse 27 of Shri Aadi Shankara's Saundaryalahari ALL-NEW Messenger - all new features - even more fun!
