Guest guest
Nora and Jaimaa, I'm having trouble finding the initiating post for this thread. I'd like to read it through from the beginning. Can you point me in the right direction? Also, Nora, are you planning to compile these and archive them on the web page? I think that would be nice. , "N. Madasamy" <nmadasamy@s...> wrote: > > LsBhasya 22 : tAtankayugalibhutatapanodupamandalA > > The Two Jewels in them are the sun and the moon. If you look back at my old messages on LSBhasya, I will always put the old thread history. I have been rather slack last 2 days. I though : Oh! Well, lets wait till we reach 25 then I will do the 1 – 25. I guess DEVI wants me to do it right away. Thank you to you once again. Perhaps if you look at our homepage on Lalitha Sahasranama: http://www.shaktisadhana.org/images/Kochu/Lalitasahasranama.html Indeed it is. We already have the Lalitha Sahasranama in our homepage and they are partially translated [ transliteration & several add on in english by Bhasurananda Natha and the English Translation from the same book that we are using right now ]. I am actually in the process of compiling all these so that I can put them in the homepage, you know with special effect. Like if you click on the name and presto! A pop up screen will emerge to give you the meanings in english etc.. Very ambitious endeavor but not impossible. DEVI's will we will eventually. Guest guest
I am being presumptuous, I know and the learned here will forgive me I am sure. And add further embellishments and ideas. Here is some thoight on LS-1 to 22. LS recited without knowing ANYTHING will give results. But when it is recited properly with Bhavana the results are stupendous. The LS is a meditation. Do it slowly with bhabana. But what is the Bhavana or visualization. For that we must use LS in tandem with laitopaakhyana. Here is something. 1. Srimata == Why is Devi Lalita called srImAta? Look at lalitopaakhyana story. The Devas were under the control of Bhandasura a rebirth of KAmadeva. The Gods were unhappy and narada goes to evas and instigates them to escape from Bhandasura. Then goes to Bhandasura and informs him of the escape of devas and he gives chase. On being cornered, the devas decide that they have no choice and so decides to conduct a “mahAyaga” where the one who conducts the yaga and the sacrificial material are the same. They immolate themselves into the great fire of intellect. (there are many symbolisms that the learned here can see; but lets leave that all aside or the time being) and from that fire energized by the powers of devi a great power emerges and coalesces into lalita. Her first act is to recreate the Devas. Because she recreated the evas, she is their mother and hence the name – SrI mAtA – the Great Mother. We must see in our mind’s eye the whole process of the emergence of lalita and her recreation of Devas when we recite that name. 2. Sri Maharajni == And what did the devas do as soon as they were recreated? They realised that She was the one who recated them and she is the summum bonum of their powers and hence decided to crown her their empress. Hence the name SrI MahArAjnI 3. Srimat Simhasanesvari == For being crowned, she was seated by the devas in the great throne. Hence her name the Mistress of the Great Throne. 4. cidagnikundasambhuta == where was she born from? The great Fire of thought into which the Devas dissolved. Hence this name as the one born out of Chidagni. 5. devakaryasamudyata == why was she born? To do what has to be done for Devas = hence the name Deva kaarya samudyutA 6. udyadbhAnusahasrAbhA == and what does she look like? Like the light a thousand rising Suns. From here it is her discreption. As each name is recited visualize that. 7. caturbAhusamnvitA = She had 4 arms. 8. ragasvarupapasadhya = she had in one hand the noose of passion 9. krodhakarankusojjvala = The Goad of Anger 10. manorupeksukAndA = Bow of sugarcane with the string of bumblebees that are eating the sugarcane that’s the representation of mind. 11. pancatanmatrasayaka = five flower arrows that are represented by the bIjas drAM, drIM, klIM, bLUM, saH. 12. nijArunaprabhApUramajjadbrahmAndamandalA= Her innate effulgence fills the Universe. 13. campakAshokapunnAgasaugandhikalasatkachA = Her hair adorned with flowers like Champaka; Ashoka etc. and their fragnance is spreading around. 14. kuruvindamanisrenikanatkotiramanditA= wearing (on her head a crown with) millions of Padmaraga gems – padmaraga is rare pink sapphires. 15. aShTamIchandravibhrAjadalikasthalashobhitA= her forehead shining like the moon of 8th day before full moon 16. mukhacandrakalankAbhamrganAbhivisesakA = her face like full moon with a spot of musk marking the cheek like the shadows of the moon. 17. vadanasmaramA~NgalyagRRihatoraNachillikA= Her eyebrows are the entrance arches of the palace of Kamaraja 18. VaktralaksmiparivAhacalanminAbhalocanA =Her eyes are like fishes playing in the tank of the beauty of her face. 19. navachampakapuShpAbhanAsAdaNDavirAjitA = Her nose is beautiful like the newly opened Campaka flower. 20. tArAkAntitiraskArinAsAbharanabhAsurA = Shining with with a diamond nose stud that outshines the Stars. 21. kadambama~njarikLLiptakarNapUramanoharA = Decked with clusters of the Kadamba flowers worn above her ears. 22. tAtankayugalibhutatapanodupamandalA = The Two ear studs are like the Sun and the Moon.
