Guest guest
> why is everyone so self righteous about America? Maybe because it's self-righteous about itself? Because it's so powerful, and has been doing things that destabilize the security of everyone. Like the Iraq war adding fuel to al Qaeda's fire, a gift to Osama bin Laden on a silver platter. Johnny Depp compared the US to a large puppy knocking things over and stepping on them without having a clue. Most of the people have so little idea what their government is doing. Others actually approve of the carnage out of pride and greed, getting ahold of Iraq's oil. Because the USA, though only about 6% of the world's population, consume over a quarter of its natural resources. Well, we're in for it now, because some huge changes are coming, as Mata Amritananda has warned. Guest guest
Yes Max, Thanks for expressing this. I have felt all of this and am aware of it. I find those aspects just as disgusting as you do. On the other hand, when I hear so much hatred, I begin to feel, others are not better than me. In America the split between the haves and the have nots is increasing. It is sick how much overconsumption there is. So worthless stuff ( CRAP ) people buying it up like crazy like a broken instinct, not healthy instinct, for survival. But Hatred is not what comes from spiritually evolved people. And America is not the only big country with plenty of power and influence. Sure there are plenty of reasons to be mad at America. And things to hate about the gross materialism. If you want to know the truth, the world is overpopulated, and many nations share in that karmic burden. In short, supply and demand dictates changes all across the globe. >From pesticide use and oil well drilling in the ocean. All sorts of big issues. America could definitely make some big changes and if She doesn't I feel a World War III will be inevitable. I just feel it is a disaster that Bush got into office. But why should you hate me? I am a woman. I am a mother and a housewife. We are at the lower end of the middle class barely scraping by. My husband works at a call center. Why should we hate each other. There are so many troubles all across the world. And the Jew and the Palestinians and so many reasons to hate. Guest guest
A-men Cathie. I am also weary of all the nitpicking that people do on America. I know of people who accuse all Americans of being arrogant, racist bastards; those who will hate someone just because they are American...but due to their own prejudice for Americans, they show their selves no less arrogant or racist. That is what really saddens me. Blessings, >SophiasHeaven > > >Re: picking on America? >Mon, 8 Nov 2004 08:36:06 EST > >Yes Max, > Thanks for expressing this. No, you're right, many would do the same in the same position, and let's not forget that the Bush supporters were only half of the electorate, which means about 30% of the populace. Part of the story is that many of them voted against their own interests as workers, women, and so many other issues, because of nationalism, fundamentalism, and hatred of gays. > But why should you hate me? Oh, Cathie, please don't think i hate you, or anyone. (Oooh, my browser hightlighted those words in red, hope it doesn't display that way when i send it out.) To tell the truth about world events doesn't have to come out of hatred. It can be a act of love and hope for change. And I don't think the rest of the world's distress is about hatred, but comes from fear of what this only superpower will do. Dread for the people of Fallujah (the US forces just forced its hospital to close, as their assault on the city begins), and so much more. -- Max Dashu Suppressed Histories Archives Global Women's Studies http://www.suppressedhistories.net
