Guest guest
Hello everyone, Just wondering if anyone knew of various resources realating to accounts of the cataclysm at the end of Kali Yuga I am reading the Shiva Purana right now and have not seen many references to the Yugas so far, but I'm still not even halfway through it! I have heard that the Vishnu and Linga Puranas get into the Yugas with some depth, but I still do not own copies of them yet. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Jay Ma Tara! Guest guest
You can do your own Google search on Hindu cosmology but here is a URL to start you off: http://www.gita-society.com/section2/vedic-cosmology.htm Basically, 1000 Yuga cycles comprise one day of Brahma and signals the dissolution of the universe by fire or water. There is also a night of Brahma or pralaya which lasts for the same length of time, i.e. 4,320, 000, 000 earth years. A year of Brahma is 360 Brahma days. The life of Brahma is 100 Brahma years after which there is 100 Brahma year pralaya in which Ishwara also dissolves. This mahapralaya is followed by the rebirth of Brahma and the cycle starts again. Thus there is a recurring big theory at work here. Guest guest
Omprem has given the theory propounded in the Shastras. If we look carefully we are nowhere near a pralaya. Thus no cataclysm anywhere in sight so no worries on that.*smile*. And if we excluse the difference of "divya varsha" and "ordinary year" then the Kali's darkest periods were during the middle ages and we have entered the interregnum where man slaowly progresses. I think we are progressing - not withstanding the clash of civilisations etc. which can be called a mini-pralaya. IMHO we are at the interregnum of two yugas. The cycle as i see it is 1-2-3-4-3-2-1 so now we are in the cusp of 4-3. This view is supported in the "Holy Science" by Yukteshwar Giri. Written in 1895. http://www.brainyencyclopedia.com/encyclopedia/s/sr/sri_yukteswar_giri.html more can be seen if we search for Yukteswar giri on google. omprem <omprem wrote: You can do your own Google search on Hindu cosmology but here is a URL to start you off: http://www.gita-society.com/section2/vedic-cosmology.htm Basically, 1000 Yuga cycles comprise one day of Brahma and signals the dissolution of the universe by fire or water. If to select yuga-theories, i would also to Yukteshvar`s as the most reasonable . Although Shastras seem to stick to another view in most cases. But what concerns cataclisms, we may face several. At least that is the opinion of some Masters... Whatever it may be we are in the process of some kind of global change. That started from the beginning of 20 century - when and how it ends future will show. A.
