Guest guest
It must be noted that LSD, as a synthesised form of ergot, is ruled by Kali. There is no question that it literally "expands" the mind! However, there must be a mind there in the first place. Limited minds will experienced limited benefit. Those whose minds are well-furnished with knowledge and experience will benefit immensely from an LSD trip. However, a positive and uplifting "set and setting" are absolutely crucial! Lilith M. Guest guest
Interesting. I read (somewhere) the opinion of some scholar that Lord Shiva rules over mild hallucinogens (hence his portrayal of smoking Ganja and drinking Bhang). This "schowler" also insisted that Kali Devi ruled over alcoholic binges and angry, drunken energy (hence her image of angrily dancing after drinking the blood of Asuras). Lord Indra was famous for his appreciation of Soma. We don't know for certain what Soma was (some say fly agaric mushrooms). It was a heavy-duty hallucinogen, and might be near LSD in effect. (Indra was an example of not having much of a mind to expand, however...) I'm also intrigued by the inages of Parvati Devi showing her holding a datura flower (instead of the usual lotus), and of her son Ganesha carrying a datura fruit or wood-apple in his trunk. Those who know claim datura is very poisonous and its effects are scary. But apparently at some point there was an hallucinogenic practice around Parvati and Ganesha's worship. -- Len/ Kalipadma On Tue, 9 Nov 2004 15:32:47 -0800 (PST) Lili Masamura <sephirah5 writes: > > It must be noted that LSD, as a synthesised form of > ergot, is ruled by Kali. Guest guest
Namaste Len, Datura is still widely used in India as an offering (both external and internal) to Lord Shiva. And the Datura fruit or flower is one of Shiva's most potent emblems. So it is natural that Ganesha or Parvati might be shown holding Datura, their "weapon" or sign of the source of their ultimate power. For more notes on Datura, Soma, etc., and especially their connexions with Shiva, I invite you to view the following link: http://www.geocities.com/sarabhanga/keshin.html
