Guest guest
Pranam. Pls sign these petitions and pass them on. Thank you. With Love Shankaree While the 2004 election is now history, I know that many of us are determined to make sure that our voices continue to be heard by our newly elected representatives. As a recipient of WomensWire from Care2, I know that you care deeply about protecting women's rights here at home as well as lending your voice to support the needs of vulnerable women and children throughout the developing world. We have two important actions in this issue: 1.End the global gag rule: Save women's lives! 2. Call for U.S. Leadership to Fight the Global Emergency of AIDS. 1. End the global gag rule: Save women's lives! Petition: http://www.care2.com/go/z/18545 U.S. policies are denying the poorest women in the world contraceptives and family planning services. As you may know, the Bush administration has reinstated the Global Gag Rule, a destructive policy that denies funding to foreign health providers that educate women about their right to choose. The Gag Rule has blocked critical contraceptive supplies to numerous African countries and caused a host of clinics to close across the continent. In refusing to provide aid to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the Bush Administration has undermined that agency's efforts to provide services to vulnerable women worldwide, and denies women around the world the power to make their own choices about childbearing. Send an email to President Bush today asking him to overturn the Gag Rule. Lives depend on it! 2. Call for U.S. to Fight the Global Emergency of AIDS Petition: http://www.care2.com/go/z/18547 The emergency of global AIDS and the poverty in which it thrives seems overwhelming, with 6,000 Africans dying every day. But Americans are rising to the challenge; and we have an historic opportunity to begin the next presidential term by offering a pact to help the poorest people in the world help themselves. Care2 is helping the ONE Campaign to call on President Bush to fight the global emergency of AIDS. You can help - urge President Bush to begin his second term by entering into a historic pact for compassion and justice to help the poorest people in the world fight the emergency of AIDS and the poverty in which it thrives. With just one percent more of the U.S. budget, we can help: Prevent 10 million children from becoming AIDS orphans. Get 104 million children into school in the poorest countries. Prevent 3.5 million children from dying of unsafe drinking water. Please sign this petition and let President Bush know that you support starting the next presidential term with a pact for compassion and justice to make a better, safer world for all. Thank you for taking action today!
