A Group Statement of Purpose

Our goal is to encourage open debate and discussion of Shaktism,

whether positive or negative, in the belief that the best cure for

ignorance, misunderstanding, and -- above all -- misinformation, is a

frank discourse between people who truly love Devi, and have chosen to

approach the Ultimate Divine through Her myriad forms. Moreover, and

fundamentally, we want to provide the tools necessary for those who

want not merely to discuss Shaktism, but to actually PRACTICE it in a

manner appropriate to their circumstances and development.

In light of the current discussions, should you ever decide to revise

this (draft? "official"?) group statement of purpose....

I'd suggest revising the first sentence. This is a bit rough, but

something along the lines of--

"Our goal is to encourage open and frank discussion of Shaktism,

in an atmosphere of civility and with respect for all paths and

traditions. We believe that [....]

I gather, from DB's and Kochu's postings, that respect for other

paths or traditions is really quite central. And I have a personal

fondness for civil discourse :-)
