Guest guest Posted November 16, 2004 Report Share Posted November 16, 2004 Our goal is to encourage open debate and discussion of Shaktism, whether positive or negative, in the belief that the best cure for ignorance, misunderstanding, and -- above all -- misinformation, is a frank discourse between people who truly love Devi, and have chosen to approach the Ultimate Divine through Her myriad forms. Moreover, and fundamentally, we want to provide the tools necessary for those who want not merely to discuss Shaktism, but to actually PRACTICE it in a manner appropriate to their circumstances and development. "official"?) group statement of purpose.... I'd suggest revising the first sentence. This is a bit rough, but something along the lines of-- "Our goal is to encourage open and frank discussion of Shaktism, in an atmosphere of civility and with respect for all paths and traditions. We believe that [....] I gather, from DB's and Kochu's postings, that respect for other paths or traditions is really quite central. And I have a personal fondness for civil discourse :-) , "N.
