understanding of the tantras. That said, some mantras are good for all

people of every prakriti.

Several great mantras like that of Dakshina (22 lettered) and Adya

Kali (16 or 13 lettered) and famous "Hare Rama" suite everyone.

Tantras say that even if according to tables and calculations they are

not good for someone, it doesn't matter. They are for all.

everyone. Anyone know otherwise?

Well, U speak about kulAkula-chakra only while there are others (but

yes, kulAkula is the basic). But for akasha-tattva are "ha", "sha"

(NOT sa), "ma" and "na" as well as "lRi" and "aM" with "aH".

Based on the endings mantras are male (eg. Hum Phat), female( eg

Swaha) or gender neutral (eg Namaha); the gender has nothing to do

with the deity of the mantra(eg female deity may have a male mantra,

though generally not so).

Based on their potential effect, mantras can be in four categories

from susiddha(best) to ari(enemy). There are several chakras

(anakatha/akadama) for finding out whether a mantra is harmful for a

particular person. Some mantras are supposedly beneficial for all eg-

Vedic mantras and mantras of certain no. of syllables.

This is very good advice; mantras should be dealt with carefully esp.

the ones which have beejas in them. I have personally experienced

many harmful effects while toying with such mantras. This is also the

opinion of enlightened Masters like Mata Amritanandamayi and

Sivananda.

What do you mean by akasha mantras- are you referring to the petal

beejas of the chakra associated with Akasha tatwa (as in matrika

nyasa)- these are harmless as they are a mantric bhutasuddha, so

should be harmonising.

Ahh Child, Just as all personality types can be described by the elements as in

Ayurveda, so also mantras can all be divided into their predominant tattva, and

this method of choosing predates time. One wouldn't choose a fire beeja like Ram

for a water type prakriti, and so on, however, the akasha mantras are ok for

all. Obviously these teachings on choosing the mantra are given only in the

highest tantras and are very secret. Nor do these teachings take up much room so

they are easy to overlook.
