Guest guest
I am reminded of the story of Dr. Richard Alpert the LSD "psychonaut," who met saint Neem Karoli Baba in the 1960s. Maharajji asked Alpert, "The medicine you take -- it gives you siddhis? Give me some." NKB took a HUGE dose of LSD, and instead of tripping his mind out, just continued to run his ashram (with an occasional twinkling glance at Alpert). Afterwards, Maharajji told Alpert, "Interesting -- but Yoga is better." (You will note NKB did not harangue Alpert, "You're awful! You're so Tamasic! Here, drop some more acid!") An advanced soul can partake of all sorts of intoxicants without it affecting him negatively. But intoxicants are a tool which should be used sparingly, if at all. -- Len/ Kalipadma On Tue, 23 Nov 2004 02:33:00 -0000 "omprem" <omprem writes: > > > ***To think that any drug or smoke or substance can block God > from consciousness is really stupid, when God and > consciousness are one. *** > > God and Pure Consciousness are One. > > Ordinary consciousness and especially consciousness > adulterated with alcohol, drugs or any of the other weird and > wonderful pasttimes proposed by some of the members here is > not capable of bringing one to an awareness of their own Divinity > or of Brahman.
