Guest guest
Please note that the Hindu Swastika is always shown FLAT on the bottom. The Nazi Swastika always is rotated 45 degrees, so that there is a corner point at the bottom. People make a fuss over which way the arms are turning, but it's the angle at which the entire symbol is presented which indicates who has been using it. Of course, there are right-wing skinheads who don't bother paying attention to the angle of the Swastika that they are spray-painting as part of their vandalism. And I was embarassed to find a photo of a South Asian Sadhaka wearing what must've been an old Nazi medal or award on a cord around his neck -- he wasn't paying attention, either. -- Len/ Kalipadma Max Dashu <maxdashu wrote: > Agreed, but it's validity as a Holy Symbol used for thousands of years > far > outweighs it's bastardized political use for less then 10 years. Yes. It does, but in the spirit of ahimsa, when I show the svastika _as a sacred sign_ in my slideshows, I like to address the issue as a way of clearing the blasphemy away, acknowledging the pain and setting people's minds at rest. > The crazy thing > is people have died under the banners of Islam, the cross, for the > hammer & > sickle etc. and yet these symbols are perfectly fine to use in any way > by most > people. As far as I am concerned they are also problematic... Mail - You care about security. So do we.
