Guest guest
Here's a PDF, in case you don't have it: http://www.dattapeetham.com/india/festivals/navaratri99/lalitopakyana ..pdf Here's a preliminary introduction from this group: http://shaktisadhana.50megs.com/Resource/Messageboard/Srividya4.html The Lalitopakhyana is the narrative counterpart to the Lalita Sahasranama. We have not fully set out those correspondences here in a complete series as ye, tho' it is slowly coming together. Some of the pieces and clues assembled thus far appear in Nora's LSBhasya series. Hope that helps! Guest guest
Thanks. Devi's attack on Bandasura is external. How do one internalise this asura. Guest guest
Well this will make a good discussion thread. Thank you rajeshwari for taking the initiative to start it. How about you telling us what do you understand about Bandasura? Do not post it word by word from the translation we have here in the group [do go to the file section.] but from your own understanding and your own words. Then we shall see where this discussion lead us to...... , "rajeshwari iyer" <rajii31@h...> wrote: > > Thanks. Devi's attack on Bandasura is external. How do one internalise this asura. Guest guest
Well, this is my understanding of internal enemies. There are six inner enemies – Kama , Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Mada, Matsarya i.e., lust, anger, miserliness, infatuation, pride and jealousy. After following the thread on LS - still I am not above to connect which line corresponds to the removal of above attributes. How in real life chanting LS works on external enemies. which line corresponds to justice in legal battle. My final querry - Initially, when Khadagmala was posted - (during siddhi's) there was some preamble of those goddess. But, nowadays only devi advances without her introduction. Why? this change. raji. > > >Well this will make a good discussion thread. I see all these are part of my attributes, and they are 'friends'. I am not here to destroy them, but to tame them because they are an asset that you can harness for productive us. If I think your question is stupid or not genuine do you think I would spend the time responding to you? If you said, you have no clue whatso ever, how do you know im diverting the whole issue all together. Do ponder abt this for a minute will you. That is how my guru taught me. Sometimes its good to let your mind wonder for a moment, and see where it leads you too. Sometimes in order to get to point B or C, you need to go a whole cycle, before you can actually understand. Guest guest
This is just what I or everyone would like to avoild. Unnecessary misunderstanding. I genuniely did not mean in wrong sense - somuch, you did not intend to. Your contribution is most appreciated and welcome. This will certainly bring other member's into discussion. So, please give your feedback - I have not taken them personally - if my words have hurted you then i apologise. LS is what given to me by my family. This is what is emphasised by my guru after my initiation iin to mantra. I can chant LS without refering to any books but it is parrot chanting. due to lack of sanskrit knowledge - I am unable to understand the meaning of LS. I go through if I see its posting. This is one of the main reason for my joining this group. I follow LS that gets posted in this group - infact that is what i am interested. Who is this Bandasura ? this question was there in my mind for a long time. (i shall again retry) though my first effort failed but I shall still try to find who he is internally.. If I can get further I shall post. Meanwhile if you or other learned members can give some clue that would be appreciated. My apology if it caused any unwanted misunderstanding. raji.. >"NMadasamy" <nmadasamy > > > Re: Lalitopakhyana [ The story of the Goddess >Lalita ] >Fri, 23 Dec 2005 17:49:32 -0000 > >, "NMadasamy" <nmadasamy@s...> >wrote: > > > > , "rajeshwari iyer" > > <rajii31@h...> wrote: > > This is a discussion - I would like it to be healthy. > > > > > > And I do not understand this statement. Guest guest
May I add my bit of understanding. Bhandasura was born out of the ashes of Manmatha burnt by Lord Shiva. It indicates that our vasana of the world of Maya will not die away and reappear as many times as our deeds .again and again and drink the juices of the essence of the life itself. It disappears only by the grace of Devi who comes to our rescue in the form of Guru and wakes us from our sleep, which we have to seek Her blessing repeatedly in our life after life . Guest guest
And from the tradition that I come from, there is no such thing as foolish questions and foolish answers. There is no such thing as healty and unhealty, nor there is such thing as pure and impure. If you look at our group, this group is the only group that have such discussion as "spiritual masturbation". In some group, such word would never get pass the moderators' censorship. I am not even angry, but just puzzled. Why on earth even we go into this serious discussion, Rajni comes with this thoughts "lets have healthy discussion only". That is my start of the probing. If you want to really understand about Bandasura, then the start will be, come with pure mind and think not of the negative first. That is what this whole thing is all about. Otherwise no matter what is being said, you can never understand because you are so occupied about this whole issue of state of healty and unhealtiness. So since there is two great people responding to rajni and kochu said he will personally respond to rajni, Im glad. I will just sit and listen. Thank you all. , Philip Miller <pem218> wrote: > > Namaskar - > > In the tradition I come from there is a saying: There are no foolish question, only foolish answers. > > PEM > (I agree and hope mine will not be > Kochu) > > kochu1tz <kochu1tz> wrote: > Please!!!!!!!!! lets not have problems. > Raji you go ahead and ask and I shall make it my personal duty to > reply. Guest guest
By "foolish answers," dear NMadasamy, I mean individuals whose answer belittles someone else's ignorance, and thereby exposes their own. "Foolish answers" demean the both the person asking and the person replying. By all means, please let "healthy discussion" ensue. (If I am not mistaken, it was a perhaps unintentionally snide remark about "unhealthy discussion" that got this unnecessary string of messages going. Guest guest
Absolutely ! There are no enemies. The term is a platform of defination towards understanding. I remember during one Vipassana Camp, I was quite upset with my self because I was unable to reach 'unbiased awarness'. All of a sudden, without my actually not knowing when, I started feeling compassionate towards this 'poor me', and thus began an out-pouring of love towards my self. This loving awareness carried me through to a state of utter peace and I felt in each breath my pulsating oneness with the universe. Meaning when I started loving my enemy, that is my poor disoriented self, I knew there was actually no enemy, just an absence of love.
