Guest guest
New Delhi, INDIA (Dec 28, 2004): With the whole nation saddened at the disaster caused by killer Tsunami waves in the southern belt of India and other countries of the world, children from various schools of Delhi today assembled at the India Gate to pay homage to the departed souls. With their faces partially covered by black cloth and hands folded, the kids offered a prayer in silence to those who have perished in the tragedy. A couple of tourists from Pakistan who had come to India on a peace mission also joined the ceremony. "It was a privilege for us to participate with them. I prayed if they are any survivors, they survive through the ordeal. I know that people who have gone can't come back, but alteast we can do something for the survivors," said Nayyar Malik, a Pakistani tourist. The Chairman of the All India Anti Terrorist Front (AIATF), M.S. Bitta, under whose patronage the prayer was held, said that children are pure form the heart and if they appeal to the masses to help the victims, people would obviously listen to them. "Also it is considered a good omen to start anything with children," Bitta said while appealing to the people to contribute to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund. Little children also appealed to the government of India to provide every possible help to the survivors by giving shelter to the homeless and medical aid to sick and injured. (ANI) SOURCE: ANI.
