I have this one (and like it). It's quite simple--Shree Maa chanting the mantra; no liner notes. [....] I ran across the following web page today via a google search. This appears to be a collection of mantras, with audio and transliterated Sanskrit; little-to-no commentary on the mantras. Scroll down a bit for the Devi mantras. http://www.siddhashram.org/audio.shtml I didn't do much investigating and really don't know anything about this website. Guest guest
I found a CD of mantras, some to Devi, by Shri Anandi Ma. The one I have is called Mantras of Abundance, and it is very nice. Guest guest
It looks like the CD is still available from Shri Anandi Ma's website: http://www.dyc.org/books/audio.htm I'm curious; does the CD come with liner notes with text versions of the mantras? , "Mary Ann" <buttercookie61> wrote: > > I found a CD of mantras, some to Devi, by Shri Anandi Ma. Guest guest
Yes, it does come with liner notes and a short explanation of Shri Anandi Ma, her life and influences. I think I purchased it from someone who was selling it through Amazon.com. It's probably better to get it from the SAM website, but that site didn't actually come up when I did a search for mantras on CD, oddly. I first found it at some other site for approx. $25, and then I remembered to check Amazon for it's used CDs, always a great bargain. However, it was not used, and it was only $12 or $14. BTW I was told by someone recently that Amazon.com is a right-wing organization, donating lots to the Bush campaign and Bush-type policies. Does anyone know anything about this, or have any ideas how to find out? , "msbauju" <msbauju> wrote: > > > It looks like the CD is still available from Shri Anandi Ma's website: > http://www.dyc.org/books/audio.htm > > I'm curious; does the CD come with liner notes with text versions of > the mantras? > > , "Mary Ann" > <buttercookie61> wrote: > > > > I found a CD of mantras, some to Devi, by Shri Anandi Ma. Guest guest
Mary Ann, Thanks. I'll keep that CD in mind when I'm next in the market for a "listenable" CD. At the moment, I think I have more than enough chant resources. I also received some really fabulous kirtan/bhajan/etc. CDs for Christmas, so I have some lovely music for listening. I've used Amazon to buy CDs in the past; their selection is great, and I appreciate the sound clips and reviews. Lately I've been buying directly from the artist's website where I can. My partner is an author, and the percentage of the sales price that the artist receives from direct sales is MUCH larger than what he or she will receive from the typical retail outlet (like Amazon.) That's not a criticism of Amazon--it's just the reality of the situation. , "Mary Ann" <buttercookie61> wrote: > [ The CD Mantras of Abundance, by Shri Anandi Ma ] > Yes, it does come with liner notes and a short explanation of Shri > Anandi Ma, her life and influences.
