oh! That point i Did miss... i thought you meant he was advising them to go

into the porn industry. butyou are saying he was advising them to go into

becoming a musical performer? oh that is a Big cultural myth. that's a heavy

head trip for kids growing up these days.

Good God Lilith get a GRIP. There are NO porn recruiters and pimps in the

public schools in MY town. i have substitute taught at these schools. My

daughter's teachers are exemplary. OF course they should not be recruitng for

that

in school and they should not be advertising for sex drugs on prime time tv

and the complications of the four hour long erection.

I do not consider you in the position to advise me on how to be a better

mother.

Lilith,

I am a real mother ina real school, who knows other real mothers,

all concerned mothers, and i guarantee you, MY daughter is not now being

recruited in her school by pimps and pornographers and if this is happening in

any

school it should be Stopped. But WHAT does it have to do with Madonna ???

Good Point Lilith,

And you can lead the way. Maybe you should write a letter to sixty

minutes or 20/20 to get a piece done on it. Maybe you can CHANGE it. I

suuppose it might happen in some inner city schools, maybe somewhere, but it is

NOT

happening in our local public school systems i can guarantee you. My mother

was a teacher in that school system, I grew up through it and now my daughter

has and the school district here is such that her highschool was written up in

Time magazine front page story when they built it.

Also, regarding alcohol and teens:

Every so often I hear a tragic story of some beautiful teen young woman who

has died from overconsumption of alcohol. In our country drinking is too much

of a "sport" -

Teens do not need to be drinking and the teenagers i know do NOT drink they

are model young adults and will make the world a better place to be.

It should be so for All children everywhere they should have not rigid

authoritarian strict controls and not laizezz faiiree (:sp?) everything goes,

but

common sense parenting with respect, care, and love.

Actually, Cathie, I notice here that you completely

missed the whole point of this post: I was talking

about how a sixty-year old career counselor for very

young adults (fourteen-year-olds) was actually

presenting them with this sort of career, and even

actively pushing it at them with promises of earning

obscene amounts of money. It is one thing to talk to

eighteens-and-over about this, but to be waving it

under the noses of very impressionable, very young

women, already dazzled by the media that puts such a

glossy, glamourous false front over the horrifying

reality of the world of prostitution and porn, is

incredibly evil and immoral, to my way of thinking. I

will be completely blunt here and say that I am quite

shocked to discover that someone like yourself, who

has actually been in contact with this dreadful

underbelly aspect, and who professes to have such

insight into things, AND who is a mother of a daughter

herself!!!! could have completely missed this point I

am trying to make! It never ceases to amaze me how

supposedly aware and insightful humans can completely

overlook the more frightening long-term implications

of this seemingly innocuous incident. I will have to

spell it out for you, I suppose: Our daughters are now

actively being recruited right in their schools by the

pimps and pornographers of the world and barely anyone

caught this fact, even when it was spelled out for

them in black and white. Yet the universal reaction is

to stand around wringing our hands when we hear about

yet another arrest of some well-known person as a

pedophile or serial killer of young women and asking

ourselves "Why does God allow such things to happen?"

God doesn't allow it; WE DO. If I had my way, any such

person peddling such evil to my child would find

himself roped to a chair with me standing over him,

with a brazier by my side and a red-hot poker in hand,

asking him "Who are your bosses?". But that's just me

again, of course, trying to point out that "The sky is

falling! The sky is falling!....
