I agree...and fully understand that viewpoint, but I think that is partly the parents' fault for not watching their children in their times of greatest need. I am not pointing fingers at anyone, but I have lived in a rent's household a year ago, with children that were NEVER watched by their parents. Sure, they would listen to me, but I could only go so far on teaching them things for they were not my children and therefore, was not really allowed to do much. The basic setting: parents leave for work, children leave for school, children get home from school, mother gets home late and does not spend much time with them, and mother and father give the children money just to leave the parents alone. Sorry, this subject got me on a ramble...I just feel strongly that parents need to spend a bit more time with their kids nowadays than they have been. Otherwise, children really have no one else to look to as a model for anything, whether it be morals, spiritual development, and so forth; thus, they will turn to the media to find a substitute for those needs. That is my theory on this, anyway. Hello Anya, Welcome back. And thank you for this. I agree completely with your theory. Role Modeling plays an important development in children's upbringing.
