Guest guest
You are right; maybe I should write to these programs!. And what does Madonna have to do with this? Well, let's see. She was touted as being all about "exploring sexuality", wasn't she? She even published a book that purported to "teach you how to f--k". Now, if you would care to go back and look at that book, there is an image of herself, dressed like a young girl, and seated in an old man's lap. I don't know about you, but this picture went too far, in my opinion. I will digress here for a moment to remark that the trouble I have observed with Catholics who are throwing off their uptight upbringings, is that they tend to go way overboard in the other direction. Once I was at a pagan-type festival called Starwood, and I met this pair of albino twins, a boy and a girl. They were both probably about 20 or so, and had been brought up in a strict Catholic home. Now, here they were at Starwood, in a liberal atmosphere, and had hooked up with The Church of All Worlds, famous for its liberal sexual policies and advocacy of polyamory. Nothing wrong with that, but at one point, the girl was walking around completely naked in the commercial area with her equally naked boyfriend. Still nothing really wrong with that, although it is considered good etiquette at these festivals to at least wear something on one's bottom regions when out in the public realm. But then, she and her boyfriend started a PDA that got completely out of hand; they were practically having sex right there, with everybody walking around them. Now, "sexual freedom" does not necessarily mean one is free to make a graphic sexual spectacle of oneself in public, unless the audience paid to be there! In the same way that your right to swing your arms ends where my nose begins, your untrammeled right to graphic sexual exhibitions ends where my eyes begin...or those of my children, or anyone else who would rather not be forcibly subjected to such things in public places!. It was definitely quite inappropriate and tasteless behaviour, even in that liberal atmosphere! But as I said, that's what happens when people are in a state of "compensation". To return to the point I was making before, by including such a picture as this in her collection of "Sex" pictures, I see Madonna as tacitly condoning and glamourizing the dynamic of sexual exploitation of the young by the old, which is the essential dynamic behind "kiddie porn". We all know these things happen, but in Madonna's self-centred quest for notoriety, she glamourized a dynamic that should not have any "glamour" whatever attached to it. Adults have the choice to say no and make it stick, to a certain extent. Children do not. The very worst of all this is that she has already stated, talking about her own daughter in the context of her public image "I don't let her watch my videos; I don't even want Lourdes to even know what sex is just yet" Well that's fine for HER, but what about all those mothers that would have liked their OWN daughters to not have been exposed to the dynamic she introduced into the zeitgeist, but were powerless against the weight of the media! Madonna used and abused the psyches of the youth of her day as a ladder to fame; now she wants her own young daughter kept "safe" from the very dynamic that made her famous! What a goddamn hypocrite. She made her bags of money using sex, now she uses that blood money to keep her own daughter "safe" from it... THAT is the sort of thing that burns me up about Madonna, not her stupid media antics or third-rate music.
