The Svacchandasamgratha says ,"The Susumna has a thousand- pealled lotus, at the top as well as at the bottom... is a pair of shining lotuses, O ruler, the kula and akula" She is called akula because she is in the form of akula or her abode is in it. or because she has no family [kula], body etc. she is called akula.
