I apologize to all of you who are trying to follow the Khadgamala

Devis Series, since the weekly postings I originally intended have

not materialized as I'd hoped. In any event, this is for posterity,

I hope; not just for here and now. So I assure you that I will

continue the writings and explanations as I can and as Guruji and

Bhasuranananda become more available to assist and advise.

With this week's devi, SARIRA AKARSHINI, "She Who Attracts the Power

of Mortality," we reach the last of the Devis of the Second

Enclosure, SarvAsha-Pari-PUraka-Cakra – the Chakra which fulfills

all your desires.

The 16 Akarshinis (or "attractive powers") whom we have met are

identified with the 16 days of the lunar calendar. According to

traditional Hindu arts, the erotic zone moves up from feet to head

in the bright half of the lunar month and comes down in the dark

half of the lunar month; the expression of the Eros is through the

various powers of the mind described by the Akarshinis. In the

Khadgamala, we praise:

(1/29) KamAkarsini, She who attracts the power of lust (procreation

and nurturing),

(2/30) BuddhyAkarsini, She who attracts the power of

discrimination/decision,

(3/31) AhamkarAkarsini, She who attracts the power of ego,

(4/32) SabdAkarsini, She who attracts the power of sound/hearing,

(5/33) SparshAkarsini, She who attracts the power of touch,

(6/34) RupAkarsini, She who attracts the power of form /sight,

(7/35) RasAkarsini, She who attracts the power of taste,

(8/36) GandhAkarsini, She who attracts the power of scent,

(9/37) CittAkarsini, She who attracts the power of the mind,

(10/38) DharyAkarsini, She who attracts the power of valor/courage,

(11/39) SmrityAkarsini, She who attracts the power of memory,

(12/40) NamAkarsini, She who attracts the power of names,

(13/41) BijAkarsini, She who attracts the power of seeds/semen,

(14/42) AtmAkarsini, She who attracts the power of the self,

(15/43) AmritAkarsini, She who attracts the of immortality,

(16/44) SarirAkarsini, She who attracts the power of mortality.

Then we say, "I bow to the Mistress of the wheel which fulfills all

directions and all desires, who is the secret yogini."

Next week, we will begin following the Ananga Devis (erotic

sentiments) of the Third Enclosure, SarvasaMksobhanaCakra, The All-

Agitating Chakra. Here follow the eight erotic sentiments of the

third enclosure, as we praise the names of:

(1/45) Ananga Kusuma, the sentiment of flowering,

(2/46) Ananga Mekhala, the sentiment of girdling (or boundaries),

(3/47) Ananga Madana, the sentiment of love (or arousal),

(4/48) Ananga MadanAntura, the sentiment of lust,

(5/49) Ananga Rekha, the sentiment of crossing bounds,

(6/50) Ananga Vegini, the sentiment of desiring sex (or fast),

(7/51) Ananga Kusuma, the sentiment of insisting upon sex,

(8/52) Ananga MAlini, the sentiment of joyful orgy.

Then, "I bow to the mistress of this all-agitating chakra, the

esoteric yogini."
