Guest guest
~~ aho loving spirits -- sister/brother/siblings of a thousand genders/characters, blossoming! this, a wondrous discovery for me, from a Zuni storybook whose song found me in my return to Ojai, the nest ... Millennium (the deities, our Great Spirits of creation, are neither Mothers nor Fathers -- divine procreation knows no egg nor sperm, no 'mechanical' umbilicals ... conception, growing, nurturing, awakening all -- are the 'acts' of thinking, born of sacred thought -- spoke, sung into existence ... thee and me .. ~~ omnity !) ~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Voice of E-la-pu-wa speaks I asked Pe-tan-yah lying in the Sun, to tell me what s/he learned since time began, the One eternal thing of all humanity's work -- his/her answer was the least expected on: It was not the buildings made of stick and stone Nor armies dying where the brave atone, for dire mistakes. Nor fields of waving corn Nor surging village streets with ceaseless drone It was not the writing on the temple wall Which all the ancient arts ancestral recall -- Nor was it peace which heals the wounds of war Nor sweet of nectar, nor the sting of gall For these things die as grass grows, as grass decay They know their little hour, their moth-like day Then pass away with other passing things -- With nations' pomp and bloody wars' array. This, said Pe-tan-yah, is the endless thing, The One, eternal, living, conquering And world-impelling thought of the first-One: -- The laughing tones of children as they sing. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~ translated from the Zuni, from the book "The Blue God" by Lous Mertens, 1968 .... ... _________ ALL-NEW Messenger - all new features - even more fun! http://uk.messenger.
