Guest guest
Just wanted to mention something I have found helpful from Deepak Chopra. In his book Creating Affluence, Dr. Chopra emphasizes the importance of NOT consciously focusing on the information he is giving throughout the book. Rather, he advocates allowing the information to flow around and about you (my words and description) through listening every day, so that the information will become part of you and your ways. As such, you will begin to change, and your experiences will change in accordance with those changes. For me, this approach works better in terms of having a deity to identify with. Rather than attempt to visualize and call up that image and see myself as it, or it as me, etc., to have the image on an alter, to see it, to know what it means to me, and to allow it to be present, and myself to be present, creates the opportunity for meaningful energy exchange. I think this works better for me, too, in that it gets away from the mischaracterization of genderized/sexualized notions, such as of being "penetrated" by the information. This is more about the free flowing energy exchange rather than filtering/limiting that freedom by imposing the concepts of penetration or envelopment based on penis and vagina metaphors. This is about intermingling and allowing the energy to flow and move through and inspire, which can and does happen all the time between all beings. Guest guest
Hello Mary Ann, As I see it there are two ways things go .. One is to start with a basic visualization and keep feeding it every day until it becomes life like and starts interaction with you .. the second is to simply not care to visualize yet do what you want to do in the way it gives you more satisfaction to do and let the image come into existance by itself (osmosis like someone said) to realise the practice or mantra you are doing .. I presume both eventually amount to the grace of the diety you are looking for .... and lead u to the same place ... to me the key is to follow what suits your heart and helps you open better .. in all sadhana there are prescribed principles and disciplin to be followed however within this there is total freedom to choose what works better for you !! I am not sure I am talking in the same context as you are since I saw this mail and am just responding without going through the entire chain .. I find your views and thoughts quite interesting and mature ! Surya.
