niskalA : Without parts.

 

This rejects the theory of those who say that Brahman has parts. The

Ved. Sutra [iI.3.43] says, "the soul is a part of the lord, on

account of the declaration of difference.."

 

The Bha-gita {XV.7], "In the world my part is jiva." These two Sruti

and Smrti, are not opposed to one another, because the parts are

merely attributed.

 

or niskala, contemplation on [brahman] without qualities.

VijNAnabhairavabhattAraka says, "Meditation on [brahman] is without

parts, since he is without dependence and with no fixed resting

place. It is not meditation upon form as attributing face, hands,

etc.
