Dear Max:

Yes, msbauju's links should give you a good orientation. There's not

really any coherent online summary of intra-Shakta disagreements

about efforts such as those Amrita is undertaking -- first perhaps

because of Shakta's traditional secrecy; you won't find many public

airings of dirty doctrinal laundry, Kaula vs. Samaya, and so on. In

truth, groups like this are as good a place as any to watch it play

out. But you need to read between the lines; these disagreements are

the underlying Cold War that causes many of the apparently

nonsensical "proxy battle" threads that occur here.

I know of one American scholar who has closely observed some of the

religio-socio-political backstories behind Devipuram, but her work

is, due to its obvious sensitivity, unpublished; and she has asked

me not to publicize or promulgate it here. In the meantime,

moderators of this group occasionally receive various

facile "attacks" on Amrita, on our publication of certain documents

on the homepage, and so on. So really, if you wanna know what's

happening, I'm pleased to inform you that you have something of a

front row seat. ;-) Please contact me off board if you wish to

discuss further. I'd rather not make it an explicit thread here.

Thanks ...

Thanks for this and the other link for Devipuram. What a beautiful

temple, looks like a blessed place. I would love to come there

someday.
