Guest guest
Here is another in Shakti Sadhana's "Conversations series". "Q" is me, "A" is an accomplished Srividya upasak and guru, who (also as usual) offers patient and lucid replies for the benefit of the Group. [ Q ] So why in this context the word desire and not delusion use by Kochu? I am trying to understand. I refer to Siva Sutra, they too mention it as delusion. [A] Yes see there are many meanings for a word, in sanskrit. Taking that which is relevant for the situation is the trick. nirmoha and moha naashinee are the two words. Nirmoha: one without desires; one who is not distracted; moha nashini, she who destroys infatuation; desires; and delusion. It is also a principle to use the obvious meaning instead of going into convoluted meanings having to strain to explain because desire is the common feeling felt by ANY human being. Delusion is not FELT by all. [Q]Agreed. Desire is the basis of all. [A] When desire is destroyed; then the other feelings of delusion and maya and all that also gets destroyed simultaneosly. As long as Desire is there the other esoteric aspects cannot be destroyed. Once Desire ends everything else also does hence the use of desire. Why do we desire things? It is because we have delusion. Why are we infatuated? Because there is desire. I am infatuated about a woman because I am deluded into thinking it will give me pleasure, right? Desire is the basic emotion. When it is destroyed all delusion will cease. Once all delusion ceases truth will shine forth. So we must destroy desire. But it is easier said than done, thats why we call HER moha naashinee. We are seeking her help to destroy moha; once she blesses then only we can estroy moha so that we realise our true nature. When we recite this name we must visualise her blessing us with ability to overcome moha and when the visalisation is strong it will destroy the moha [Q] I went into a long journey I guess trying to understand, looking at the two verse before and after. I thought all are related to our emotions. So rightly so that moha is emotional related and thus desire. I understand now. Thank you
