More specifically, the height of the worshipper's

fist, measured from heel of the hand to tip of the

outstretched thumb.

On a practical level, I have seen murthies three feet

high (or more), admired them, and thought, "Even if I

could afford to buy it, WHERE would I put it?"

You know your deity is too large, if a stranger sees

it standing in your shrine room and says, "Oh, you

have a roommate?"
