Guest guest
While the sentiment below comes from laudable kindness, Ratzinger himself represents the repressive authoritarian wing of Catholicism that regards members of this list as devil-worshippers. At first I was distressed to hear of his appointment, and it is not good news, but on reflection I think opposition to anti-female and anti-life (the ban on condoms sentencing untold millions of wives and others to HIV infection) doctrines will increase. The policy against female priests, married priests, and covering up for molester priests is going to meet with increased resistence, particularly in North America, where some 3000 parishes are without priests because of it. Notwithstanding R's pro forma humble statement, he is a hardliner and is not going to attract the same affection as JP II. At least I hope not! >Let us reach out the hand of >friendship and mutual respect to him.
