mahAbhairavapujitA : Worshipped by Mahabhairava

 

Bhairava is Paramasiva, the accomplisher of creation, preservation and

destruction [of the universe]. Each letter in the word bhairava has a

meaning; bha, creation [bharana], ra, preservation [ramana]; and va,

destruction [vamana] lit. to vomit. PAdma Pr. says, "Sambhu, the

origin of the universe, worships the beneficent Devi who is the sakti

of the mantras, holding the rosary in his hand, by means of nyAsa."

The LalitopAkhyAna says, "The Lord MahAsambhu, by a great sacrifice

caused LalitA to become manifest from the alter of the fire of

consciousness."
