Guest guest
Dear Debanjan and friends, You wrote - "but onething i would like to point out is that "religion" is not about doing things that make others remember someone..it is about working selflessly and unattachedly for others with no expectation for reward.....a devotee wants nothing but shelter in the lotus feet of GOD..He cannot do something good for the sake that others will rememeber him for his action after his death...because He knows that this world is very transient..HE does not crave for fame or for a place in common persons heart..his only intention is to please GOD and for that he does good actions which benefit others...He is always engulfed in the thought of his Ishta..." My saying - By pleasing others while doing the right thing, is equal to pleasing Him, is it not? If we give discomfort to someone, why is it calling sinning? It is because inside every body, God resides. If we give this somebody a hard time, it will be like we are hurting God...indirectly. It is very hard to realise this, but it is a fact... Why do we bow down and request for blessings from elders? We bow down to our parents, for they have the power to bless us as equal as God. But if they ask you at any point in your life to bow down to a stranger, would you refuse? No...and when you bow down, you consider the God in this stranger's body; a stranger can be anyone...it could be God to test your feelings about bowing down to him/her when you hardly know them. It is God at all times that you consider and greet. The body is like a temple. We eat, to feed the God in us. We feed God with all devotion. We eat healthy food to keep God happy. If we know that we are not meant to kill animals to eat, and in spite of being able to feed on vegetarian food affordably, we are not respecting the God in us. You do not throw food, at the same time, you do not stuff yourself with all kinds of junk food. Healthy, means to keep God in one's self happy. We are feeding Him, not ourselves. We die and leave this body behind. But in our soul resides God, and we hold Him tightly in our soul with our holy devotion and sacred love.
