Guest guest
I was looking at the words to Mamavatu Saraswati again and noticed that they say something about she who resides in the temple of Kamakoti. Who or what is kamakoti? I could not find this out in a basic internet search of Sanskrit dictionaries or even at kamakoti.org.

Guest guest
Probably this is a reference to Kanchi Kamakshi Mary Ann <buttercookie61 wrote:I was looking at the words to Mamavatu Saraswati again and noticed that they say something about she who resides in the temple of Kamakoti. Guest guest
"mAmavatu shrI sarasvati kAmakOTi pITha vAsini" thats part of a song. The sarswati is being discribed as she who resides in Kamakoti pITha. Thtas a Mutt or seat allegedly established by the Original Shankara. So it has to be assumed that she is the Saraswati being worshipped at the Mutt. Guest guest
Generally, Kamakoti is a reference to Kanchi Kamakoti peetam (kamakoti.org). It is "supposedly" one of the peetams established by Aadi Sankara. I mentioned "supposedly" because the rest of the peetams (Dwaraka, Sringeri, Puri and Badhrinath)were established by Aadi Sankara and it is said that he established the Kanchi peetam and personally presided over it in the initial years until his attaining of mahasamaathi. Well, the presiding deity is Chandramouleeswara (Shiva) and the Godess is Bangaaru Kaamakshi. So far I am not aware of any other temple of Kamakoti.....but by knowledge of temples may not be as extensive as some! , Len Rosenberg <kalipadma108> wrote: > > From my limited knowledge of Sanskrit, I'd translate > "kama-koti" as "millions of desires." > > -- Len/ Kalipadma > > > --- Mary Ann <buttercookie61> wrote: > > I was looking at the words to Mamavatu Saraswati > > again and > > noticed that they say something about she who > > resides in the > > temple of Kamakoti.
